rofl. I thought you had finally figured it out!
I know what you want! You want a good decent hug. A HUGE hug. Such a hug where you feel all warm and fuzzy and you forget all about your every-day problems and you just feel all sleepy and you feel like taking a nap because it's just so comfy and safe!

I have no desire to mock INTps. I was mostly going by the hidden agenda. And I think the need to feel safe near someone is a general victim (Gulenko) thing.

Yeah sorta, but not really. For each thing I think I want that I categorize via , then takes over and thinks of a zillion possible effects of that and I never really come to a conclusion if it's a good thing to want or not. Just a bunch of "directions things could go". Then when I run out of ideas I stop, but never reach a conclusion.Originally Posted by Kristiina

yeah, i agree that this neither of these characteristics are very accurate towards their intended functions, let alone towards INTp. in particular the "need to feel safe near someone" sounds very un-victimlike, but rather infantile.Originally Posted by Kristiina

Quite so. This sentence might actually describe the INTp desires quite accurately. Basically - the 'I want something...but I don't know what it is' attitude - could be best described by the word longing.Originally Posted by stevENTj

I guess it is a kind of Freudian slip, a a subconscious desire to be INTP.
Anyway as Transigent pointed out Ne relies on subconsciousness to bring about associations. They can be right if they are backed up a large body of reliable knowledge, people typed correctly, socionics theory thoroughly internalized, years of experience etc. etc. When this is not the case, a heavy error rate and distortion of the data is the result.

The last time you suggested that I might be an INFj I checked the Reinin dichotomies and realized that INFjs and INTps coincide in many dimensions. And I am always interested in strong arguments. But you will never convince me by pointing out how I can be seen as an INFj. Your only chance to put some doubt in my mind is by pointing out things that contradict INTp. You have to show why my INTp claim is (or at least might be) falsified by empirical data, and it won't do to come up with the usual stuff.Originally Posted by CuriousSoul

Well I want
- to travel in time to my childhood and relive and change the past
- to have magical powers to alter everything including my personality and memories (so if life seems unfair I can change it, and turn off memories if I get bored of reliving life too many times)
- to have a beautiful girl in my life - or several - as long as they don't bother me too much
- not to be depressed or impotent
- or otherwise: oblivion (what unhealthy enneagram type 5's want)
I also want to understand know everything so that I can the maximum amount of control over things.

INTps want someone who wants something(INTps are the type least likely to have any material desires, but may have desires about a certain lifestyle or future for themselves). They want to find meaning in life, and make good, practical, and educated decisions. They want a reason to get up and achieve. This combined with their hidden agenda 'to love' makes them very active in a relationship, especially an Se-type.

I'm torn by this. When I sit down and think "what do I want to buy?" I usually come up blank. Pretty much the only time I buy anything is if I feel a powerful need. It's weird because I find or develop a "need" to spend money every couple months. This usually happens with technology, I just bought a new phone this week (Samsung t509, it's sweet) even though my old phone works perfectly fine and is only a year old. I constantly upgrade my computer and listening devices (tv tuner, new case, new cd deck for my car and new mp3 player within the last 4 months).Originally Posted by Gilligan
hmm, for clarification: I mean they aren't desirous of a hot car. They are practical and realistic people, they probably want investments- a nice home, property, etc. But they don't freak out and buy the latest cell phone, car, etc etc. They don't feel special driving a giant Hummer the way an ESFp would. Anyway, Steve is a man who actually has dated real women and has a career, I think he could better illuminate this subject then a bunch of asshole teenagers who are still under their parent's wing. cough. tard.Originally Posted by Gilligan

And what kind of personal phone did I use while working at that job? An old-school NEXTEL design with no camera, no video, monochrome LCD screen, a big azz speaker, and a big azz battery. I loved it, but everybody looked at me sorta funny since it was so "low tech". But I had the last laugh because while their gadget clogged phones were always dropping calls due to all the junk stuffed in them, mine was clean as a whistle and could hold calls anywhere, LOL.Originally Posted by heath
My wife is the trendy status conscious one among us, and she'd appreciate a luxury brand car 100x more than I ever could, so when the time comes to replace her car she can get something nice. This year I'll probably trade in my 8 year old 2 bodystyles out of date Nissan with 153k miles (250k km) for a new Nissan, even though I could afford something nicer. There's also a Mazda I like too. And the only reason I'm getting rid of it is because it's getting too old, has lots of little problems here and there, and I just don't have the time to give it the care it needs.Originally Posted by heath

He loves gadgets. Especially practical ones. He owns a mine in alaska though so he needs that sort of stuff to keep him busy. It's an awkward scene, no doubt... but I would imagine most irl scenes like that with INTps would be quite awkward.
