    Default Mel Gibson

“Feminists don't like me, and I don't like them”
“That's like asking you to pick your favorite child... I do however, think Bird on a Wire was one of my finest works. Oscar caliber.”
“It's all happening too fast. I've got to put the brakes on or I'll smack into something.”
“After about 20 years of marriage, I'm finally starting to scratch the surface of that one [what women want]. And I think the answer lies somewhere between conversation and chocolate.”

I do have a theory. I have seen the opinions ISTp and ENTp and things, but I think his sneaky and sly cleverness is somehow very ENFp. I want to know what others think.

I say ENFj with slight hesitation, and his understanding of shakespeare is juvenile.
    LII
that is what i was getting at. if there is an inescapable appropriation that is required in the act of understanding, this brings into question the validity of socionics in describing what is real, and hence stubborn contradictions that continue to plague me.

He and George Carlin (ILI or ILE, IMO) share this look/expression.

That said, I think he's ILE.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

I have never heard that one before. Always ISTp, ISTp, ISTp. Interesting option.

So what if we use Expat's heuristics and start from finding a quadra...Alpha, Beta, Gamma or Delta and why/why not? Forget about individual types and functions for now.

    Wikipedia:

"Gibson has a reputation for being a prankster"
"Helena Bonham Carter, who appeared alongside him in Hamlet, said of him: 'He has a very basic sense of humor. It's a bit lavatorial and not very sophisticated.' "
quote from Gibson: "Hollywood is a factory. You have to realize that you are working in a factory and you're part of the mechanism. If you break down, you'll be replaced."

All this says ESp to me. He's pretty blunt, so I'll say ESTp.

Hm, maybe I'm thinking more in MB terms. But lavatorial humor is pretty characteristic of ESTps, right? (maybe ETps in general)

I think in his films he uses an extraordinary amount of Fe. He manages to manipulate those susceptible to his methods. Take The Patriot, where he unjustly bastardises the English, by revealing all of the corruption and evil within their army, while keeping under control the countless murders, pillages and rapes committed by the Americans. In The Passion Of The Christ, again, he can't help himself from showing the Romans to be a ruthless and sadistic civilization (the laughing soldiers as they fuck Jesus in with a wip with spikes on it). And in Braveheart, his vendetta against he English is shown up AGAIN, so far that the Scottish, when coming to address their heritage, build a memorial BASED ON THE WILLIAM WALLACE OF BRAVEHEART.

Most of the Scottish people should be disgusted by this act. In fact, worse about the film is not the fact that the English are made to be utter pricks, but that he turns the Scottish into some kind of dark age tribe living in subterranean hobbit holes. Wallace was a Norman night. He could speak fluent French. He was not some barbarian who painted his face blue and had platts in his hair. The Scottish had cathedrals. They were as technologically advanced as the English. Talk about going overboard with supporting the underdog. The fact is, he likes to make it so that the enemy has innummerable resources and troops, but his forces manage to conquer against all odds. It just makes no logical sense whatsoever.

In essence, we learn to hate the enemy more than they deserve to be hated. He wants to show us how cruel the opposition is, and how heroic and just the allies are. Far too idealistic in his way of thinking. It's almost as if he has no notion whatsoever of human weakness. EIE is my guess.

People argue that he's a Delta ST, and this frustrates me. In all of his films, there's a distinctly Se element. I'm not just talking about the full on gore he likes to apply in such films as Apocalypto and The Passion Of The Christ. I'm talking about the dominant feel of his films. He clearly values Se. It's quite possible that he's an ESI (because a Six EP is unlikely), as he likes to create this mood of hate towards certain people, and he's very good at doing it. He got my dad to say at the fat kid on Apocalypto "look at that boy; I want to rip his fat fucking tits off". He deliberately portrays villains in a certain way, and he makes no attempt at subtlety. There is nothing remotely Delta about his films. In fact, I'm gonna say Gamma. I think this is the best choice for Gibbo.

Not true. Many ENFps are 6's, and there is a decent distribution throughout the rest of the EP's as well, ime.

How, though? How can Sixes, who are so attached to stability - who need to be attached to stability - how can they be EPs?

The whole notion of EP's being these free spirited adventurers is over-rated imo. Think about delta values; many ENFp's have a conservative streak, despite having Ne in their ego block. Or consider Ti subtype ENTp's, who tend to be a little more grounded. Also, don't forget that counter-phobic 6's can be quite the independent ones, especially when the sexual instinct is prominent. As for the ESxp's, 6 is probably a slightly less prominent type than in their Ne ego counterparts, but it is still far from infrequent imo. And there are definitely too many exaggerated connotations surrounding 6's (phobic, at least) concerning stability and loyalty, which is probably why so many people don't want to identify with that type, given the shitty quality of most online descriptions.

I've also been pondering the idea of you being a cp6w7 (clean slate ) recently, simply based on the nature and tone of your posts. But I guess that's a topic for a pm.

i think IEE is probably the best choice for an EP 6, but i agree that EP and 6 are rather antithetical.
