He is obsessed with typing everyone

If you want to experience being stalked by someone, just try refusing his typing for you , or not caring about it

I'm interested to understand correct types and to help others in this for those for who this is useful.

That's good, but not everybody here wants to be continuously reminded of what you think their type is , or typed based on 1 scenario

There is no universal criteria to determine type. So by which criteria are we saying a typing is mistaken, by what objective standard are we comparing this too?

incongruent behaviour with type descriptions, nonverbal, etc. like how you would type others. there's no objective standard yet, just relatively common reason, which also is about what criteria should be used and which ones should be weighted (for example, the usefulness of non-verbal mannerisms vs. self-reported behaviour for typing).

Is there common reasoning, though? If there was, there wouldn't be so many disagreements.

Type descriptions are generally poor reference material imo. They tend to be rather cliché and describe traits a few authors picked up on and that others memed (such as the "grouchy ILI", the adveneturous "Don Quixote" etc). In reality many types can share traits that are in descriptions, and many members of a type don't share the traits that are often in their type's descriptions.

Nonverbal also needs to be interpreted. And again, there is no one interpretation. I agree though that nonverbal is more useful than self-reported information.

So, perhaps there are general trends, but not anything to really weave together an coherent enoughuniversal picture of the types.

Types are supposed by common approach for "famouses": behavior nonverbal (mainly) and common.

Reasons for typing mismatches and why those are high in average were discussed on the forum many types. I recommend to check the "general" subsection and other places to talk about general theory and practice problems in Jung typology.

I'm sorry, Sol, but this is circular logic.

By what methods do we determine the types of celebrities, if not universal methods exist to type people in the first place?

I'm not unaware of why these mismatches exist.

But they do exist. I think it is better to consider Jungian typology and socionics even as several different typologies and not just one system. I think telling newcomers to socionics that it is a monolith is selling them short, dishonest. Better for people to find out what makes sense to them in this mess. I think general psychology and other fields are useful in understanding oneself as well, and socionics is better with the help of these disciplines, I think.
