Default What information element is self-awareness?

The vast majority of people are not self-aware. It's actually a recurring theme in the Abrahamic religions (Christianity, Judaism, and Islam) that most people act deterministically. For instance, in Judaism, it is said that the gentile nations were idolators until the second temple was destroyed, at which point God changed their minds so that they started to switch to monotheistic religions. That's not consistent with the idea that humanity is self-aware. Christianity and Islam have similar views on the non-self-awareness of humans.
"The salvation of the world depends on the men who will not take evil good-humouredly, and whose laughter destroys the fool instead of encouraging him." - George Bernard Shaw

"When I was in the military, they gave me a medal for killing two men and a discharge for loving one." - Leonard Matlovich

If you're talking self-aware like self-conscious, in socionics that's a super-ego thing. Now, if you're talking about the function that analyzes the "self" per se and be "fine" with it, you're talking about Ni. Coincidentally, most religions or religious gurus seem to lead other people to try introvertd intuition as a means of become "awaken". I used to think it was introverted sensation but I've seen more than one specialist relate that to Ni, so it's probably it.

Abrahamic religions have a difference though, they seem to place too much more importance on moral rules (Fi perhaps) than oriental gurus or oriental thinkers in general.

Anything 3D is pretty self-aware ime. 4D functions aren't often all that self-aware, more like narcissistic and something that spills over to other people/"The World" but they can have a harder time with it themselves like Clarice telling ILI Hannibal to use his insight on himself lololol.

actually idk... anything 1D or 2D might be a lot more self-aware than 3D or 4D as it's like personal insecurities vs what the world views you're strong at.

It's hard to see Hannibal from "Silence of the lambs" movie is ILI because the actor clearly doesn't look like one, I think he's Fi polr or ignoring. In the other hand, the Hannibal from the TV series has a closer look of a gamma NT, but could also be LSI.

Probably Ni, but it may be an integral part of the individual that is beyond classification in this system.
