Default Linux distros and integral types.

Distro philosophy and general forum community.

So far Arch seems very Gamma, philosophy-wise: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/The_Arch_Way

    Gentoo seems more Delta: http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/philosophy.xml

Debian is probably Alpha (along with Stallman, who I have a cursory impression of as an ILE): http://www.debian.org/social_contract

Apparently, there is a form of Linux called Tails.

It resides on a flash drive and runs from that flash drive, and when the flash drive is removed from the computer, there is no evidence that it was ever there.

I believe that Edward Snowden (LII) used it.

It seems odd to me that LIIs like free, transparent, open source software that anyone can see and modify, but they hate the idea of anyone knowing anything about themselves, like where they’ve been and what they’ve done.

    What’s up with that?

If you're the type of person that dislikes domination of others, speaking your mind tends to make you enemies. As Edward Snowden's example illustrates.

Anyway, I use Artix, fwiw. I'm lucky enough not to have needed Windows for anything in college, so I've been running Linux-only for over four years.

I used to prefer rpm-based distros. Probably when I first used Linux I used a rpm-based one. But now I'm mostly using Windows.

I use Windows, that's how it all started for me so ... my side projects have involved Fedora, Ubuntu, and now Mint. The idea of Arch always made me think or feel something but never went with it.

I like it that side projects can be free OS. But I want my main use of computers to be f'd up by Windows thank you very much.

Please find all my stuff on harddrives and in boxes and on shelves ... all of me will be seen by someone maybe someday, but ... likely no one will care.

Fedora is excellent if you have no intention spending life in Federal prison or being protected by an autocracy that has no respect for personal freedom.

How to separate the boys from the men: Suicide Linux—it wipes your entire hard drive any time you mistype a command / input the wrong command. Any time, any command.

According to the NSA, Tails users, and anyone interested in privacy, is an "extremist," and put on a watchlist.

    Well, fuck them.

Let me point out that Benjamin Franklin set up the Post Office and made it a Federal crime to open first class letters precisely to enable citizens to privately and covertly organize a resistance to a tyrannical government. And he knew something about tyrannical governments.

And here we are, with the NSA.

I use Pop_OS! which is based on Ubuntu and i'm a Gamma SF. Which makes sense re: Fi + Se indulging in aesthetic sensibilities i suppose, i chose this Linux distro because of the UI customizability.
