    Default Fisher Temperament Inventory

This is an interactive version of the Fisher Temperament Inventory.

Introduction: The FTI is a measure of personality based on the idea that behavior is influenced by the dominance of neurotransmitters in the brain. The FTI identifies four chemical subsystems of the brain (dopamine, seretonin, testosterone, estrogen) and measures four scales of behavior belived to be produced by those systems and an overall temperament type.
Procedure: The test consists of statements about you that you must rate on a four point scale of how much you agree with each.

The Barnum or Forer effect is the tendency for people to judge that general, universally valid statements about personality are actually specific descriptions of their own personalities. A "universally valid" statement is one that is true of everyone—or, more likely, nearly everyone. It is not known why people tend to make such misjudgments, but the effect has been experimentally reproduced.

The psychologist Paul Meehl named this fallacy "the P.T. Barnum effect" because Barnum built his circus and dime museum on the principle of having something for everyone. It is also called "the Forer effect" after its discoverer, the psychologist Bertram R. Forer, who modestly dubbed it "the fallacy of personal validation".

    Ok I'll go first

These are the results of the Fisher Temperament Inventory. The FTI measures the expression of four temperaments, each of which are presumed to be caused by a specific neurochemical system in the brain. Scores on its four scales range from 0 to 43.
    Temperament Associated neurochemicals Your score
    Curious/Energetic dopamine, norepinephrine 34/43
    Cautious/Social Norm Compliant serotonin 27/43
    Analytical/Tough-minded testosterone 18/43
    Prosocial/Empathetic estrogen, oxytocin 40/43
    Temperament description

Your answer profile matches most strongly to the Prosocial/Empathetic temperament. This temperament is dominated by the neurotransmitters estrogen and oxytocin, which promotes social emotions. People with this termperament are trusting, empathetic and verbally orientied.

I have looked into Fisher's temperaments. I'd rather describe myself as purely idiosyncratic (= having an unpredictable blend).

It looks like a shotgun result for me.

Took the test twice for accuracy's sake, regardless the general score is E > S > T > D, last time the latter two were balanced. The score isn't much different than from another version of this test took and also isn't dissimilar to what I speculate my DCNH is.

Fuck being a high estrogen and low testosterone male... fuck this.

For the record though, I am skeptical of the questions here. There is too much gender norm bias. I do not see men (T) as more analytical. And women (E) as more imaginative. Chads can be dopey af and women aren't... very creative.

I got estrogen/oxytocin, then dopamine/norepinephrine. Serotonin and testosterone were tied.

I don't really think of myself as aggressive. "Confident" -- I wouldn't say I particularly lack confidence, but I also don't think it's exactly my strongest trait. "Competitive and direct --" I guess.
