Kind of sucks when your quiet space smells of shit.

usually they sit there reading their phones, news papers.
Sometimes it occurs to us to hold back from pushing and let things flow at their own time. It is an exercise in trusting one's body and life at large.
I wonder if some seek to perform this feat

Not true. I won't elaborate on this, but all I have to say is that I have many real life counter examples

I've had to clean public restrooms too. One time, someone had smeared feces all over the floor. Bizarrely, they'd even managed to stick an entire clump of feces on the wall. Someone later told me that it was a common revenge tactic.
Why would someone decide to take their time in the restroom? That may be one reason.

I have no direct experience with women’s public restrooms, but I’ve read that they are pretty terrible. Something about women being afraid of germs so they stand on the seat rather than sit and this can lead to unplanned results, but this might be sheer speculation on the part of the writer.
Revenge against society works, too.
FWIW, in my experience, the women I’ve dated or lived with always had immaculate bathrooms.
Taking a good shit just feels nice. Have some private time and let it all go to hell. Enjoy the feeling of lightness afterwards. A job well done.
