I'm not exactly new since I subscribed in 2015, but I figured out I should introduce myself since I never properly did it. I lurked over here every now and then, but am more active on other medias, especially in my own language, and Discord.
I'm basically a psychologist attempting to make Socionics a little bit better known on my territory, and I was delighted to notice that a nice part of my relations have a growing interest in the discipline and their self-discovery.
I'm also an avid gamer, so just drop your Steam/Riot/Battlenet infos in my DMs and we might wreck havoc together online someday.

Well a lot of amateur scientists have been revolutionary in their fields. Like Charles Darwin.

Going off of that, I don’t see why a hobbyist psychologist couldn’t be a competent one.

Apples and oranges. Observable scientific studies and analyzing other people’s motivations are totally different skill sets. Anyone can observe a creature and make a deduction that it looks like another creature because x y z physical features. Psychology takes vast categories into account, most of it are not directly observable. And what’s observable, how would you be able to actually deduce its origins? Most hobbyists conflate behavior with cognition. Western typology treat actions as behavioral. Just because you think you’re competent doesn’t mean you can use a title that is defined as being trained and specialized in that area. People toot on their own horn too much.
