    L = 12 O = 14 V = 22 E = 5

    LOVE = 12 + 14 + 22 + 5 = 53

    shouldn't V be 20 and O be 15?

    EDIT

    so LOVE = 52.

    Factors of 52: 2 * 26, 4 * 13. Two Twenty-six year-olds for 13 years. That would make them both 39.

    39 = 3 * 13. Tree by 13. They'd have planted a tree when they got married.

    So, love is a tree. It's something that grows and grows until it's big and strong! It grows until it pierces the heavens!

    Kick reason to the curb and DO THE IMPOSSIBLE!

    MORE EDIT

    My working was sound, stfu.

    (And this doesn't mean I'm Alpha again.)

    1. An emotion
    2. Approval (not necessarily expressed); caring about something or someone

    In expansion of definition 2: A person will be saddened, or at least annoyed, at the loss of something they love; the object of love is relied upon to remain accessible. Vituperative imbroglio apfinadar (My last sentence sounded stilted, so I decided to make fun of it).

    When someone begins to enjoy someone's company so much that they begin to want to never let go of their visage, their person, and the pleasurable feelings that that person gives them.

    Love is that tingling on the skin, like some sort of breeze is cooly dancing along. It turns you into a fool and sometimes a genius. It's a tractor beam reeling you in. Love can feel like a very special, very personal facepalm. It invigorates, makes you smile like an idiot for no particular reason. Life seems brighter. It spins you around, drops you, and expects you to find your own way out. All your hopes and fears seem tied up in there somewhere. Love can make you sing or dance in public.

    It's pretty gay like that.

    The several concepts bundled together under the banner of the English world "love" are not all the same, but they share a common thread of positive emotion and good will toward the object of the love.

    lol He could have saved time, and just spelled "marry me". I'd probably flee out the back door. Or rearrange the bales to spell "I'll think about it." Then I'd flee out the back door.

    Strange. I'd see it as an endearingly quirky gesture. Same as a serenade or something.

    In other words, it's cool, because it's unique to the individual, and that makes it a lot more real. I mean, I know it's not "unique"--it's trite and cliche--but maybe "personal" is a better word? Even better if it's part of his and the girl's shared sense of humor.

    Yeah.. It's envisioning the guy spending the day sweating and puffing away over bales of hay that would be offputting for me. I mean it would be different if he spelled the sentence with matchsticks. It just kind of seems a bit manipulative too .. like he's done all this work for me - argh you're not making it easy for me to say no!

    that is what i was getting at. if there is an inescapable appropriation that is required in the act of understanding, this brings into question the validity of socionics in describing what is real, and hence stubborn contradictions that continue to plague me.

    Well, I see what you mean with the matchstick comparison

    But I wouldn't do it as a gesture to say "I've done all this stuff. Marry me." it would be "I knew you'd find it charming What do you say? We've been together for a while now."

    I guess I'm projecting that it's a gesture both of endearing quirkiness and implicit understanding. Can you people stop trying to tell me I'm Alpha now?

    lol Relax - no one's going to stop you from carting around bales of hay when the time comes. Yeah, I can kind of see what you mean though. If you already knew the answer it wouldn't be so bad. You could even enlist your fiancee's help!

    What is love? Baby don't hurt me! Don't hurt me, no more.
    Love is weird. People talk about it a lot, but I don't really trust it, you know? It's like, a lot of people think they're in love and can eventually grow to totally loath each other. If that's the case, what makes love any more than a giant vulnerability with only fleeting security? I'm just going to take it as it comes and see what happens.

    On proposals:

    My best friend is a Wedding Photographer and is currently working on this campaign that involves helping men with proposals.

    A couple of interesting notes that she found in her research:

    80% of women are dissatisfied with their proposals
    One of the biggest mistakes men make in proposals is making it a "pissing contest" (i.e. it has to be bigger, better, most impressive, etc)
    Most women want proposals that are intimate and tailored to something special between the both partners
    If you aren't reasonably certain what your partner's response will be to your proposal, you probably shouldn't be proposing

    In the case of the hay bales, I think it depends on the woman. To a lot of us it seems like a lot of work, intimidating, silly, etc. But if the gesture had some kind of special meaning to the woman, then it might be the perfect proposal for her. For instance:

    My best friends were married last year and his proposal was perfect for them. They were out at his family's cottage, and he and his brother had painted a bunch of rocks white. Early in the morning, they went out off the dock and set up the rocks in the water to spell "Will you marry me" (a pretty similar gesture to the hay bales, and pretty ridiculously time consuming). His brother went back to bed and with the sun rising over the lake, the male best friend went and woke up his girl friend. In waking her up he was really gentle about it, a nice welcome to morning, and invited her to come sit out on the dock and enjoy the quiet and the sunrise. That kind of peaceful calm is the exact kind of thing that she loves, so she was more than happy to come sit with him. When she got there he was there holding her hand and when she saw the rocks in the water he got down on his knee and asked her himself.

    This could be considered at pretty grand gesture, but for her it was perfect. They'd met each other in high school and become close because they were both in the outdoor education program together. They shared a passion for the outdoors and, at that point, had been dating for 6 years. Both of them knew that they would be getting married eventually, but this was a really beautiful way for everything to come together.

    Now, if you woke some people up at 5 in the morning to try to get them to go sit on a dock with you, they would probably get pissed off. However, this was just lovely for them.

    If the manner of proposal has a significant impact on the relantionship, it's probably not a very healthy one, and the marriage is probably going to fail anyway.
    ...the human race will disappear. Other races will appear and disappear in turn. The sky will become icy and void, pierced by the feeble light of half-dead stars. Which will also disappear. Everything will disappear. And what human beings do is just as free of sense as the free motion of elementary particles. Good, evil, morality, feelings? Pure 'Victorian fictions'.

    I think both the bales of hay and rocks are nice. However, I do agree it depends on the person and their relationship together.

    Coolanzon is right. As a Delta, even an SLI, I agree that it was a BIG risk [proposing with hay bales] , even if he already knew the answer (I hope he did). He gets points for creativity, risk-taking, theatre, and effort. What more would a girl want!
