Somewhat enraged to be reminded how authoritarian Joe Biden still is, but also somewhat hopeful because I have enough hope that enough people will maybe see Mike Pence as less close-minded than he has conventionally been seen. These drug warriors like Kamala Harris have committed treason by waging drug wars against American people (unless she wasn't a federal prosecutor but still).

No hope for liberty and justice for sex workers (and people like me who like their work have to worry about loss of enjoying their work, because they could get arrested for doing it) this election, I see: (. That was sealed by authoritarian, racist, pro-KKK, former legislator piece of shit Joe Biden who thought women should be dependent on the government and thought they couldn't be independent (why didn't he just support gun rights for women so they could just shoot at or outright shoot any abusers?)

why shouldn't Trump and Pence run on not being as for the war on drugs as Obama was?

Anyway to counter these two close-minded idiots, Trump and Pence should just immediately pardon all non-violent drug offenders and say they favor legalizing all drugs; it will at least prompt some "liberals" to not tolerate drug warriors for their candidates anymore and maybe they'll at least get the social authoritarianism out of the way for good even if they can't quite end the medicare for all and socialist and corporatist bullshit. They shouldn't fall for the trap of accusing of her flipping/becoming "soft on crime," because deep down that's not what she is; rather, she's a fucking fascist like Obama and Biden.

Amazing how the two most authoritarian candidates are now a team on one ticket, that's a potential one way ticket to hell. Isn't that terrible?

Yeah, thanks for that. It's pretty bad when the Democratic ticket is clearly more authoritarian on everything than the Republican ticket (Donald got rid of Jeff Sessions and hasn't supported the drug war like Kamala and Joe always have.)

Obama was terrible for civil liberties (as I had warned people about in 2008), and if Joe Biden becomes President he'll be even worse, as he has dementia and he's had a long record of being right wing authoritarian. The difference between Joe and Bernie is pretty similar in size to the difference between Ron Paul and W. Mitt Romney, I'd say even bigger than the difference between Bernie and Hillary (Hillary could at least think clearly to not do stupid shit and had some understanding of economics and to eventually figure out what was super harmful); Joe Biden's history of being racist, authoritarian, and for war is actually longer than Hillary Clinton's. He totally scares the shit out of me, but I was never scared of Donald Trump because I knew he wouldn't do much insane as president other than the tariffs, I knew he wouldn't be idiotically hawkish, that he'd be more cautious (as he was with Iran) and that he'd be open to legalizing illegal drugs. I'm considering registering to vote.

Bottom line: If Donald loses it will be because he didn't emphasize the difference between himself and Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris on civil liberties and war.

A long time ago, in a completely different time, before black Americans had any presence in society, the government decided that busing was a good idea because it's harder to hate the people with whom you actually associate. The government decided that affirmative action was also a good idea, because private industry wasn't integrating at a rate that would change anything for centuries. The government had already integrated the military and found that men of all races were equally good at being Americans.

As a direct result of this decision to implement affirmative action, I opened a magazine to a picture of a bunch of (white male) NASA scientists standing around some rocket parts, and right in there with them was a black guy, dressed in the same clean assembly room outfit that everyone else was wearing, and the expression on his face was like that of a guy who made a wrong turn on the freeway and found himself in a Hell's Angels cavalcade. So he was kind of a pioneer.

I was surprised at seeing a black guy working in a scientific area, then I realized that yes, we're all just humans trying to reach the stars, and then I wondered how well this was going to work out in practice.

Well, we had a black president recently, and a lot of people didn't like it. But I think that that decision to implement affirmative action turned out pretty well. Certainly better than judging a man by the fact that his father was rich.

You can force reform by mandate, and people will take a certain amount of it, then they want a rest. But the reforms stay. People don't really want change, any change at all, and racism and sexism are very deep-rooted. But we progress, as we must do, if we're going to solve our problems.
