Default What have you learned from life ?

Give me some words from YOUR world of meaning.

From what I have learned from enneagram and mbti that everybody has his OWN perception of the world, everybody gives a philosophy from his OWN life not that only, but every type will learn from the SAME experience something different, because everyone has his own eyes.
So tell me a philosophy you have learned, that doesn't belong to anybody else. It doesn't necessary be of life general, maybe a value you have learned, like interaction with people, just tell me anything you have learned yourself.

I've learnt that the more I learn the more I realize there's nothing I know... that experience is one of the best ways to learn and yet, experiences are always circumstantial, I've learnt to mistrust pretty much all things that come from a position of certainty, as the only truth is in doubt.

I've learned that life is meant to be lived on your own terms. In the end of the day, if you can say that you brought happiness to your people and protected them in some form, you have succeeded. Free yourself from everyone's idea of what works or that will kill you assuredly. Dying young and living someone else's life for the rest of eternity isHell compared to being gunned down for what you personally believe.

I completely agree, this is why I question the world

Completely agree. Why do I live somebody else's life who is living somebody else's life who is living another someone live who is actually living somebody else's life which is made from the mix from who he have seen in his entire life? Why the funk would I do that am I crazy? ( actually I don't have to put that question because I know the answer. ( Whisper : " Yep! " ) )

Don't invest time and energy in everyone who's got a problem/difficult past/say they need to talk because it never ends.
It's absurd to accept what you deem unacceptable.
    Cats are great.
No one can think for yourself or give you the answers of how your supposed to feel or act about things, not even books by renowed experts with diplomas.
You don't have to developpe multiple personalities to deal with different people according to their preferences.
Binging on cookies only takes you so far, and if you aren't fat, people will gladly disregard eating like that is problematic and might even envy you for eating "all that you want".
It's sad when your body ends up giving up on you because you can't handle things anymore, even sadder to know you'd have never stopped otherwise.
Peeps may ask "what should I [do, believe, think, feel...]?" but they don't really care, unless they want you to take responsability over their life.
It's not because something is obvious to you it is to everyone.
Being lazy can be great and real good for your health.
Lol at the LSE calling the EIE a spoiled arrogant brat.
Paying attention is a form of nurturing, be careful where you let it rest.
If a book angers, depresses, or makes you go manic, dish it... or tear it apart.
It doesn't matter if you're a mess now, live it, you will not be so forever.
Depression can be incredibly interesting to go through if you observe it happen, how you crash and burn then rebirth.
You'll always be too fat for one and too skinny for another no matter your weight or health.
You don't have to take responsability over people's feelings, lives and don't stick with those who expect you to.
Habbits aren't necessary, mostly if they stress you.
It's not because someone thinks something of you that it is true.
    Patience is over-rated.
Not wanting to do something is a good enough reason not to.
Not wanting to stay is a good enough reason to leave.
Having nothing to say and therefore saying nothing is perfectly alright and has nothing to do with shyness.
You don't have to make things work if you don't want them to work.

I have learned that there is only one thing important in life, and that thing is LOVE. All the rest is, at best, a side issue. Most of it is not relevant at all, but as the Thomas Theorem goes: "if men define situations as real, they are real in their consequences."

If you ever feel like you've obtained a good amount of information about life and that you've handled enough challenges to possess a strong grip on things, hold onto your butt. You're gonna learn more, babe.

Not entirely true. Sometimes you sow and don't reap. And sometimes people reap who never sowed anything.

My biggest lesson: life just is. Shit happens.

Most things are said to manipulate others.
The only thing that should decide whether you do a thing or not are your own reckoning, your experience, and your taste for the consequences.
You're not perfect, and that's not ok, but have a healthy attitude towards your capacities.

Hmm. That first one is something I haven't heard before. Original!

I don't try to manipulate others much so it's hard for me to see from that perspective.

It's inherent in the concept of communication. It's one of those things that's sort of irreducible no matter what you do. And one meaning people tend to assign to manipulation is that it's all overt and negative, but I think the concept of manipulation is a little broader - sort of in the sense that you manipulate tools with your hands. It just is, it's not a value judgment. People communicate to make you productive for them in some way, and you basically have to read the small print before you commit to whatever their underlying request is. They can also lie without realizing it, agreeing to some model of reality that seems right in the moment because it's what serves them. That last one is especially hard not to have happen in any given situation.

Don't try to analyze reasons of your mistakes or complicated situations too deeply, if you don't get idea about it immediately after it happens then later in most cases you get stuck and suffer instead of getting any answers.
Self-reliance is necessary for true freedom but too much of it and you can't appreciate what others offer you. Balance is very important in this case.
It's important to find out what you really want and how you want to live. We sometimes mistake others' expectations for our own needs or we don't trust our methods because we were teached an other approach that doesn't fit us.
People are difficult to understand, their motives often don't make any sense but it's not a problem. Appreciate how it gives them other perspective than yours and possibilities related to it, don't try to change them.
Work on bad habits, both in behavior and thinking, be patient because it's a very slow process.

It's easier when you realize that human mathematics is all based on a set of axioms that are made correct by sheer definition. You don't need faith or proof. It is so by fiat.

There are only models of limited minds. Models are the faith. While that model is among most trusty ones what allows to be sure in this world and our thoughts.
The reality is not as stable as it seems and minds are not perfect to understand it perferctly. It's nice to have so reliable foothold. It helps with the feeling of the assurance.

I disagree. I think everyone gets theirs in one way or another. Doesn't have to be direct. Simple cause and effect

    @Aramas
For Ti types to accept the speculativity of any models applied to the objective (Te) reality is harder. The reality is always unknown. We may only guess it by models which describe simplified conditions but not the reality itself.

Among well-known examples is when it was evident that Sun goes around the Earth. Or more recent axiom when the time was thought as going equally in all places.

It's always a Faith what we think.

I kind of agree with this. For example, a shitty person will never have any true friends. It’s not necessarily about the exact specific actions causing some kind of direct effect usually, but thoughts and actions permeate and eventually impact life in other ways. However, on the surface in the short-term, it’s easy to skip over and not notice things easily like this. Granted, it can sometimes be taken pretty far. But it can only be taken so far before the consequences of bad thoughts, behavior or intentions trip people up in reaching their goals.

Its not that deep. What SB said sums up what I think well.

I'll add:The person who does shitty things might never face any sort of tangible justice, but everyone's psychology is the same. Continue doing fucked up things and you will fuck up your self.. lack of empathy means lack of connection to others. Can't connect with others thats enough punishment in itself. Many psychopaths have shown to have great genuine pain related to not being able to connect with others... ever... The point is to work towards rebuilding that connection rather than reinforcing the lack of it. With every shitty action every person they fuck over they put themselves psychologically and spiritually deeper in the rabbit hole. So yea on the surface they look calm. Happy. Successful. Whatever the fuck. But then when they go home and don't have drugs or women or whatever to distract their mind. Whenever they are forced to be with themselves. That's enough torture to them.

Somewhat true and yet not. Corruption wins in an environment that supports it. If you live around people who condone and encourage cheating and abusing others, that's the kind of behavior that becomes the local "good." And in those cases, if you're not willing to participate or play the game everyone else is playing, you'll get excluded even if you're abiding by a higher moral standard. It's all relative to where you are, so there's no absolute justice.

Ok, and the point being that the “local good” is just that—local. And things do not stay or remain in the same bubble for longer lol. Power is dependent on things moving and changing. It’s possible for those bad intentions to go on for a long time, but there are always consequences, so they don’t last forever. The powerful person may not always fall down and never get back up again, but they will get knocked down and trip up over things. I’ve had a series of rich Te leading bosses who exemplified that shit lol, I am speaking from my experience here.

Maybe that's true, but perhaps some people don't really care about connection, so they don't lose much.

You’d be speaking about pure sociopaths (ones who are also nihilistic I guess, in light of @kingslayer ‘s accounts of those who aren’t) then (or just the average gamma), who have a different psychology from normal humans. I don’t really have anything to say about that, but I would not consider them to have fulfilling lives in the sense we can understand in that case, anyway.

Touché lol. I can agree that those who reach for and attain great power do typically (but not always) have bad intentions. But still they’d have to be pure nihilistic sociopaths as kingslayer said otherwise they’d reap the psychological and emotional consequences of it.

Also I think that generally, the “bad” people that we encounter aren’t even typically that bad. It’s normally to do with wanting to hoard a bunch of superficial shit for themselves and sometimes their loved ones, which is based in regular, healthy desires for survival and prosperity of themselves and their own. It’s childish if it goes past an extent, but it’s not like they have urges to torture babies or anything worse like that generally speaking. Granted, it can be very destructive if left unchecked for those who have great power.

Btw @Aramas this is why I see you as ESI. I could see you spanking a capitalist over this stuff.

If I could briefly sum up what I’ve learned in life, it would be to do with how the brain and psychology work, and also balancing forces in the universe.

Lol. I knew you would see that as an ESI comment before I posted it. I still don't see myself as ESI though.

Time will reveal with consequences if it was unfair or not.

O.o don't be Sol. Make sense. Although maybe you're just playing there.

I think it's probable I have 4D Ni. Most accurate description for me I've read from any Socionics profile is the dominant Ni one.
