Socionics is a spook
Higher deductible or higher premium?
Fascinating topic. We are enrolling in a new plan at work and I have a couple weeks to pick and I was like, ugh, why don't I make a thread and see what people say. I mean, if it would help, I could pick a random fake preference and assert it confidently to provoke people to insist on something argumentatively. Lower deductible is worth the premium, suck my HSA, hard.

Write the numbers and calculate it.

Depends on how often you go to the doctor, how expensive each visit is, how risky your life is, how healthy you are, how much you are capable of mitigating your own risks.

Yes, but the deductible and premium are unlikely to be the same by default and the boss might still have strange standards if they're not particularly mathematically literate.
All the countries with superior health care also have high premiums (taxes) by default as well so keep that in mind.

now with Corona Virus
Pay both and get the best of both worlds!

Higher premium/lower deductible if you anticipate seeing the doctor a lot.
I hardly get sick so I'm going for Lower premium/higher deductible + HSA...
But that's the beauty of shopping for individualized plans - everyone has a different situation.
With that being said, everyone in the US needs health insurance... Otherwise if an emergency hits randomly and you get hit with a huge medical bill, you're effed
