    Default Joker Movie

Is it good? I've heard it's good.

But I'm lazy and need to be convinced that going to a theater and seeing it now is better than waiting 6 months and lazily watching it on the internet.

I wanna see it soooo bad. Maybe I'll go to a theater by myself. Then I can eat 5 candy boxes and my waistline would care but my shame wouldn't. Really, I'll probably wait. But I'm down for reading posts about this movie that I'm excited about.

Heh, with all the talk of incels and shootings, I had a thought the other day of buying a ticket and having to go through a metal detector, cause you know "just in case"

hmm, what's the type that needs to be in contact with nature to recharge and gets sick of the city life to the point that after one day he's there he wants to escape? the type that acknowledgedly submits his feelings and his emotions for he doesn't understand them,

what's the type that creates highly abstract art that heavily deals with christian symbolsm and the meaning of life? I think it's the one called "Lyricist". he literally wrote a book called "sculpting in time".

i think that's a bit reductive of all tarkovskij was about, btw, he's art, you can read what you want in his films and that's fine.

I oversimplified things of course, but typing tarkovksy as a type with Ni as role function is just wrong.

it would be if one mistook the nature of Si, it's internal sensations, it can cause hallucinations, visions, poetry too. Tarkovskij's expressivity is extremely poor in Fe, he's not expressive of emotions but of internal states of being, he does so magistrally because Te, and in fact he's very referential, like a collage of beautiful things even taken from others, as to use the best of everything to render his message the best way possible, it's Te.

I completely disagree with this post, but let's stop here. it's not the right thread anyway.

Haven't seen it myself yet but I like the that the joker in this film has become a symbol for the struggles of working class proles.

This movie was fantastic. I was able to pay attention the entire time without my mind wandering. I am not an action movie person at all, and despite being based off a comic, this was not an action movie. It was quite psychological and political.

Any fool could play the Joker; it takes a real talent to play a role that has more gravitas and psychological complexity.

People should go see Joker as well as all Tarkovski movies. Right now I've got a Tarkovski box from the library, that will keep me busy for a while.

Oh and I saw it last weekend and I thought it was awesome. All the talk about the movie feeding into incels or representing gun violence in our culture was kind of ridiculous. Joker just embraces anarchy as a result of a corrupt Gotham City. I loved it.

Kind of reminded me a bit of Falling Down.

I haven’t seen it, but I suspice it’s a mediocre movie made popular by the controversy and its portrayal of an already-popular character. I can’t shake the feeling that if it had much creative merit, it wouldn’t have relied on the character of the Joker.

Being a behavioral health worker, there was one scene that really stood out and I notice that theme more than other political ones. They acknowledge the poor mental health system for both staff and clients in our nation/world. You could be right Freelance and we’re all entitled to our own opinions. It is true though that I can barely focus on shit with plenty of movies and this one had me very engaged. I wouldn’t say it’s a top movie of all time, I marked it as a “like” on Letterbox rather than a fave, but it is a good one

You haven't seen it, but you do have an opinion? That's so Postmodern!

That's so Postmodern too! And then people wonder why assholes such as Trump, Erdogan, Duterte, and-whats-that-Brazilians-guy-name are voted into power. Well, it's not only because people have fact-free opinions, but also because they are entitled to it!

I saw the movie, I studied Sociology and now study Cultural History. I say in 20 years from now, JOKER will not only be a cult movie, it will be praised by historians, social scientist and literary critics as the first movie that foreshadowed the age we are currently moving into. This movie arrived exactly at the right time and the right place. In the future, people will look back on it as historically significant.

Also very brave of DC Comics to introduce a new perspective on the character of the Joker and basically undermine all of the Batman-universe, taking it to a higher intellectual level. After seeing Joker you can never again watch a Batman movie like you did before, with their silly black-and-white approach to good vs. evil.

@consentingadult, I just said I was skeptical it was a good movie because of its premise. I’m open to being convinced to watch it; my expectations are just low.

Why should you want to be convinced by anyone to watch it? Is it your Se-PoLR by any chance??
