    Post VI Smile Theory

ALPHA - LII, ESE, SEI, ILE
Confidant smile looks to be in on a secret which they’ve found humor in.

BETA - LSI, EIE, IEI, SLE
Malevolent smile like a mad scientist or evil witch who’s up to no good.

GAMMA - ESI, LIE, ILI, SEE
Cheese smile, it’s picture time and they’re giving it all they got.

DELTA - EII, LSE, SLI, IEE
Awkward banana smile, only because it’s better than nothing.

    Implication:
    Alpha/Beta = “I know something you don’t.” (Clarity/Exaggeration - Fe, Ti)
Gamma/Delta = “Is this how you do it?” (Integrity/Emphasis - Fi, Te)
    Alpha/Delta = Retention (Relaxed/Doubtful - Ne, Si)
    Beta/Gamma = Expansion (Ready/Confident - Ni, Se)

Alpha/Beta mentality of “I have my own ideas about how things should be done” withholding manifests itself onto the facial expression as “I know something you don’t.”
Gamma/Delta adherence to the tried and true method “It should be done like this” there being a proper way of doing something manifests as an attempt to establish the familiar “Is this how you do it?”

Also, noting that the eyes of Alpha/Delta have a much softer contrast to the intensity and sharpness of Beta/Gamma. I would infer that this reflects the dichotomy of Decisive/Judicious.
Judicious being naturally relaxed and subdued, internalizing before expressing.
Manifest: warm and apprehensive gaze. (Retention)
Decisive being on edge and ready to go, quick to conclusions and expression.
Manifest: cold and penetrating gaze. (Expansion)

Alpha/Delta - warm, soft and apprehensive gaze (SAMPLE)

Beta/Gamma - cold, sharp and penetrating gaze (SAMPLE)

Just thought I would share a part of my method for typing. Your thoughts are welcome. Feel free to test it out on this thread or give me ideas for better names. Additionally, share your observations on the topic.

I’ve been told I have a mischievous smile that’s up to no good - Beta for the win

how people smile should more depend what F kind in ego and is it 1 or 2 function there, than by quadras
LIE and LSE ; IEI and SEI etc should smile much similarly
    Types examples: video bloggers, actors

They are similar but in other ways. For instance, LIE and LSE share EJ temperaments. If what you say is the case then it would be much harder than it is to tell them apart. Conceptually, if you subscribe to Gulenko's +/- values, LIE with leading -Te manifests much different from LSE with leading +Te. There's also the fact that their creative and vulnerable function are totally swapped. It's best to assume that this effects everything. We separate how these types manifest by quadra, as well in Renin's dichotomies. I see no reason why this separation couldn't apply to expression and I would assure you that it helps in differentiating between the two.

Reference Emma Roberts (LIE-Te) "Cheese" to Jeri Ryan (LSE-Te) "Awkward banana".

This pattern is ok. I think there is also a pattern with DCNH:

D: Broad confident sort of smile
C: Mischievous "I'm hiding something" smile
N: Reserved smile like they're holding a shit in.
H: Sort of wistful expression combined with "I'm enjoying myself/I'm at peace"

    I must be creative then

Ok I'm about to confirm the Gamma smile theory. Here is an LIE I know and how he smiles in almost every picture of his.

    Gamma Smile.jpg

I threw the ILI with hair in there just for fun.

And this is in pictures only, outside of pictures you almost never see this.

The thing with gamma smile is that I don't whether it LIEs or not because I can not see his eyes.

That is the main thing what people should do when deciphering fake smILEs.

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE

smiles are so momentary and so changing based on so many factors that I couldn't label by type but this was a fun thread nevertheless.

It is obviously appealing (because it might simplify type detection), but I have trouble seeing the similarities between the headers and most of the samples.
