    Smile James Joyce

I have seen ISTJ & INFP proposed for him before, but I am wondering if he might have been ILE?

I love his creative novelty-sensation oriented and conceptual fiction writing. Normally I have read little fiction outside of children's books but he is one of very few authors who can hold my attention interest and the fantasy is enjoyable.

Could you see ILE for him? Many thanks in advance to anyone who can post larger pix of him than I can.

Each essence is a separate glass,
Through which Sun of Being’s Light is passed,
Each tinted fragment sparkles with the Sun,
A thousand colors, but the Light is One.

    Jami, 15th c. Persian Poet

I've assumed he was IEI or -leading for ages, but have not really thought about it.

The World Socionics Society types him as ILE.

Really?? Wow, that is really good to know for many more reasons I can't get into. Thank you!

    IEI

"I've put in so many enigmas and puzzles that it will keep the professors busy for centuries arguing over what I meant, and that's the only way of insuring one's immortality."

Definitely either ILE or IEI. All the puns, neologisms, and disparate references suggest the former; the preoccupation with time and the inner-experiences of his characters suggest the latter.
Overall, I'd say that he's more likely to be ILE. He's closer to Carroll or Nabokov than to Beta writers like Blake or Rimbaud.

IEI or EIE. Joyce wasn’t a Logical type, but an Ethical one.

    On Dubliners.

“As for my part and share in the book I have already told all I have to tell. My intention was to write a chapter in the moral history of my country and I chose Dublin for the scene because that city seemed to me the centre of paralysis.”

@Carolus what do you think was his Enneagram type?

if only there were a type which shared character traits of Ne and IXFx without being Ne ignoring... someone should invent EIIs.

He seems INFx but fart-sniffers are Ne.
