Default Jung on Intuition, Humanity, Death and Imagination

I've started watching his videos recently and wondered why I haven't done so before already. You can learn a lot about yourself and others from him, forget Socionics. You can learn way more just on his videos and books on psychology. Yeah, he certainly had a dark side judging by some of his past actions, but it actually ties into him talking about the shadow, that we should seek to understand and control our dark side instead of repressing it. This man was a genius and was likely on the border between genius and insanity judging by his hallucinations, but most geniuses tend to walk that fine line. Because of his German accent, I recommend using closed caption for the humanity and death video:

“We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand.” Randy Pausch

Those videos are great. Just wanted to pick this one out because it stands in stark contrast to the scientific idea that everything can be explained through some form of science, that there isn't a subjective component to our existence.

"When you observe the world; you see people, you see houses, you see the sky. You see tangible objects. But, when you observe yourself within; you see moving images, a world of images, generally known as fantasies. Yet, these fantasies are facts. You see, it is a fact that a man has such and such a fantasy and it is such a tangible fact for instance that when a man has a certain fantasy, another man may lose his life, or a bridge is built. These houses were all fantasies. Everything you do here, all of the houses, everything was fantasy to begin with. And, fantasy has a proper reality, it is... that is not to be forgotten. Fantasy is not nothing. It if of course not a tangible object, but it is a fact nevertheless. It is... you see, a form of energy, despite the fact that we can't measure it. It is a manifestation of something and that is a reality. That is just a reality as for instance, the peace treaty of Versailles, or something like that."

    I honestly cried a little.

I find his thoughts incredibly intriguing and insightful. I guess I wish more people understood him before they criticize him, but such is life I guess.
