Guy Pearce did a great job in Memento.

From the top of my head. I am sure there is a few movies that I missed that belong in the top 5 more:

    1. Brazil
    2. Twelve Monkeys
    3. The Matrix
    4. Dr. Strangelove
    5. Fight Club

My LSE-Si dad actually recommended all first four movies to me, especially Brazil.
From that list, I am a fan of The Matrix. I would put that in my Top 5 as well.

I think I'll copy this thread concept in Alpha so we can compare/contrast the Judging function vibes immersed in the common Perceiving Si-Ne.

I like your taste. Maybe I'll check out the French one.

You would be probably decieved, it's a really "frenchie", a little psychological-realism, nothing like other movies I mentionned. But I can advice Mr Nobody, Coherence, Edge of Tomorrow, Pi, ExistenZ... There was "Looper" too, some like it, other don't, personnally I liked it...

Coherence have something "On connait la chanson" have, this kind of "psychological realism" athmosphere (perhaps a delta things). But the mix with Sci Fi aspect is imo really well done.

Ive like Oblivion too, but probably prefer Edge Of Tomorrow.
Wild tales was imo very good too. A little trashed by critic, not a major movie, but a really good time, with a kind of "stressfull" aspect that was not really predictable

edit : I should have putted "The Pianist" in my top 5.

The Matrix is a movie for 13 year old Beta Quadra boys. The 13th Floor is much better.

    Brazil

and 4 others, in alphabetical order:
    After Hours
    Chinatown
    The Lord of the Rings
    The Matrix

I have 16 movies that I have previously rated as 10/10, including 4 out of The Hobbit/The Lord of the Rings franchise (so in effect, 13 movies). I also currently have 54 movies I regard as 9/10. It feels somewhat arbitrary for me to limit myself to 5 movies and my selection just feels like what matches my whim this day. It would be difficult for example for me to be confident that I prefer After Hours to movies like Pulp Fiction or The Gold Rush for example, although in the case of Pulp Fiction, I chose to disregard it slightly due to perceived popularity & the desire to give a more interesting selection. There are also 9s that I may actually have a greater fondness for than the five 10s I gave here, although they I probably regarded them as 9s because I found them flawed in some way.

I don't rewatch a lot of movies, so not sure if these hold up to time. But from memory, these have been my favorite:

    1. Castle in the Sky
    2. Princess Mononoke
    3. Get Out
    4. The Dark Knight
    5. LOTR Trilogy

I just have one all time favorite
    Terms of Endearment

Very Fi...mother and daughter relationship; complicated interpersonal relationship; relationship of love and struggle; real feelings; raw feelings of children having to deal with a mother who is dying of cancer and real deep emotions.

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE
