    Unhappy Functions, Types & Clutter

Have any of you noticed some types hoarding "stuff" more than others? Do you think this could be type'related?

The 2 biggest hoarders of clutter I have known have both been Te lead types. They buy tons of st*t then complain about being poor. One is LSE the other LIE. It is not enough data to claim a pattern, but it's a start.

For myself, I personally hate feeling suffocated by stuff. I usually desire a lot of space to make life breathable. However my life luck usually gives me a tiny percent of space such that I am usually in cramped corners to start with. This can give what little I have to appear like clutter if say it is enough for a small house but in a 100sq ft room meant for a child's bedroom.

I used to cry at having too much stuff when I was a child when told to clean and organize it. I found to too overwhelming.

I learned to create rules for myself to manage my possessions that make me happy - things like, organize your clothes in the closet by season frequency of wear dress up level and arrange per the color spectrum. Only keep a max of 200 compact discs and if too many are collected, time to re-examine what I had and resell what I had barely listened to and don't prefer. Etc.

I wonder if the Te types I've known believe their junk is useful still so happily tolerate it and keep adding more, even though they even complain at other times because to the rest of normal sense it is really a horrid situation.

    Thoughts?

I have tons of junk that is only sometimes useful. I'm talking every tool imaginable and machines to make the tools that you can't buy. I tend to want to keep clear aisles through all of it, but my SLI son is starting to add his junk to the stack, and some areas are becoming impassable.

His SLI mother did the same thing, but she is better at throwing things out every once in a while.

My ideal house, incidentally, is one that has very few pieces of furniture in it, and zero junk. That's my goal.

    *EDIT*
I don't think compulsive clutter is a Te thing, per se. Rather, collecting every tool imaginable comes from wanting to increase one's capabilities, which I think is strong in Te-types.

I'm wondering if my Dad will ever get rid of some of his. I can't imagine him passing away and inheriting the mess. To sort out what is of value, what is not, and source it out accordingly? To me the situation is overwhelming and unmanageable. I have wondered if my ESI sister, who I'm not really on speaking terms with, might have the gusto to handle it.

The lady I lived with for 3 weeks last year who is definitely LIE has a home so full of clutter too I can hardly stand it. For me clutter is already excessive in that I have my bedroom and a 10x10 storage center for the rest when I live independently. But even that seems a headache, having stuff in boxes.

I never liked the idea of owning a whole lot of "stuff".

I needed months to clean my room of all the junk in there. It was a time when it was impassable. I don't think however is a Te lead stuff, I know an IEI who did the exact same thing you described, buy stuff to cluster it and then having no free space neither money. Most of my junk did not come from stuff I bought personally rather stuff that I simply have not decided to throw away or never organized properly. I need to take each stuff separately to decide and think if it would be used or not. Most of it came from things other gave to me or work stuff I don't want to waste because I'd use it later. Also I guess I take so much time because my Ne suggestive seeks desperately for the hidden potential of each and every object, or mb I'm just lazy.
