Default Enneagram type is based on motivations not behaviour or traits.

you may decide about psyche contents, incl. motivations, only by behavior and traits
and motivations are expressed specifically in them. there is common behavior for types and the closer you are in the behavior to common for other type - the more chance you have it
    Types examples: video bloggers, actors

Yes, you cannot determine motivations in a vacuum. Motivations can only be guessed at and inferred about through behaviors and traits. The question of enneagram is not "what motivates me in a vacuum" (because the answer is nothing) but "why am I doing this".

Also saying that behaviors are not important is like saying you ignore the effects of type on yourself and thus refuse to take responsibility for your actions - "my type made me do it".

Of course, there isn't a strict correlation between a given behavior and a given motivation - behaviors overlap across types and the same type may behave differently. The trick is to find out why, in the context of your life, you have behaved a certain way.

Yes but a lot of people are shades of grey. It has been proven by most that finding your type isn't that easy but it became clear to me when I read up on the internal sloth of the 9.
