    hotelambush Questionnaire
    Part 1
    Tell me about yourself
This is a pretty broad question so I'm not sure where to start. I'd say I'm a person trying to get by in the world. You can probably get a better picture of me through these questions I'll be answering though.
What do you study or do for a living? How did you come to do that? What do you like or dislike about it?
I'm studying Linguistics in uni right now. Since I wanted to be a translator I decided to get a BA in Linguistics before I get my Master's in Translation. I'm familiar with three languages besides my native English and I wanted to maybe pursue translation as a career. I find it interesting to experiment with wording, and making the translation seem as natural-sounding as possible, which can sometimes be hard, especially when it can't be directly translated without losing cultural nuances.
What are your values, and why?
I put a lot of value into reciprocation and not breaking other people's trust. I also value fairness, honesty, and kindness. Cliché, but eh. I try to make sure I am acting consistently with my values.
What else do you do on a daily basis? What are your interests and hobbies? Why do you do them?
My main hobbies are drawing, reading, and listening to music. I also write and do translations sometimes on the side. I do them because I enjoy them. Guess it makes me feel good lol.
What do you look for in friends? In romantic relationships?
I'm basically looking for those values I listed above lol. Common interests are important as well, otherwise there wouldn't be much holding us together. Differing political/religious views are fine except when they end up clashing too much. However I probably wouldn't want to hang around anyone that's racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, etc.
What conflicts have you encountered recently with other people? Why did they happen? Which kinds seem to happen on a regular basis?
    -
How would your friends describe you?
    Nice, funny, kind, shy, perceptive
What are your weaknesses? What criticism do you often face from others? What do you dislike about yourself?
One of my weaknesses is being very bad with words, which leads me with not being confident with debates. I feel like I need to prepare and know everything beforehand before I can engage in one.
Another weakness is my laziness. I do make goals but my goals are things that are pretty insignificant in the grander scheme of my life. I'm lazy because I can't really commit to one big thing I guess, and I'd rather be impulsive.
I also doubt my self and my conclusions a lot, and need input from others to know I'm doing things right.
I have problems with shyness and social anxiety in general. I hate how it inhibits me from expressing myself and getting closer to others.
In what areas of life can you manage well on your own? In what areas of your life would you like help?
This is pretty broad as well. I feel like I'm pretty much capable of doing most things on my own if we're talking menial tasks and chores. I think I'd like help with learning how to structure arguments and being more productive.
What things do you find to be a chore? What things do you enjoy more than others?
When I tried learning programming I couldn't wrap my head around it at ALL. It was really hard to learn for me. HTML and CSS were the ones I could grasp the easiest, but I still have trouble.
I find cleaning to be a chore; thankfully, vacuum cleaners exist.
I described my hobbies above and that's what I enjoy. I also enjoy connecting with people and having fun with them. Who doesn't though?
What goals, aspirations, or plans do you have for the future? How did you come to have them?
Besides the translator thing I mentioned, I think I'd like to live a straightforward life somewhere, anywhere. Though I wouldn't want to be bored. I'm living a similar lifestyle right now and it can be pretty boring. If I do end up accomplishing some stuff I would feel even some fulfillment.
If you had enough money to live comfortably for the rest of your life without working, what would you do with your time?
Probably would just be on the internet all day, or draw, or whatnot. Maybe travel since I wanna see places. Go to concerts. Spend time hanging out with friends.
What traits do you find endearing that others might dislike? What traits are considered positive/neutral by others but tend to annoy you?
I find awkward, shy nerdiness endearing, though I can see why it can be annoying for some. I think most traits I dislike are ones that are disliked by a lot of people though: arrogance, pretentiousness, loud people who interrupt others a lot, boundary violators, etc. so I can't think of any that are mostly liked by people.
What kinds of things do you do to manage and/or beautify your environment (your room, your house, etc.)? What do you think of daily chores?
I like to keep things organized. I don't really care too much about beautification, just as long as everything looks aesthetically pleasing as it is I'm good. Sometimes I don't want to do any daily chores but they're necessary. You can still make them fun somehow I think.
How do you behave around strangers?
I have a shy demeanour, and my voice is often quiet enough that people can't hear me. I'm generally polite and unassuming.
How do you react to conflict? What do you do if somebody insults or attacks you?
I don't like conflict, but I'd stand my ground mostly. I'm weak so I wouldn't necessarily try to fight back. If someone insults me I'd probably be hurt by it, but at the same time be curious as to why they'd say that lol, and possibly egg them on.
What is one common misconception that people have? Explain why it is wrong.
    I can't think of any.
What did you do last Friday?
Had a driving lesson, then did nothing else all day.
    Part 2
    What is your biggest accomplishment?
I haven't accomplished much. I'm young, so I have a whole lifetime ahead of me to do so I guess. I'm helping out and doing artwork for an indie game project which I consider pretty neat, and it might lead to bigger things as well.
    What is something you regret?
I wish I waited to confess to my crush instead of blurting it out almost right away because my emotions were too strong LOL. I was like a young teenager and stupid back then. I didn't know how you were supposed to do it. I was probably influenced by movies and TV and whatnot. I was extremely naive and clueless. I did a lot of research AFTER the confession.
Who do you admire, and why?
My dad. He worked hard to get to where he is today and I know he has my best interests in mind too. We do clash in that he cares about success while I really don't.
What's been on your mind? Has anything been worrying or concerning you? What problems have you encountered lately?
I haven't been worried about too much lately. Everything is mostly fine as it is. Well, except for my driver's test that's coming up in a few weeks; I'm a bit nervous about that.
What are your religious or spiritual beliefs and why do you hold them?
My beliefs are not very well-thought, out to be honest. I just feel like everything is connected, and that we don't really die once we die since we decompose into the soil, which makes plants grow. You know what I mean?
What are your political beliefs, and why? To what extent do you care about politics?
I don't really care about politics. I just try to be kind to everyone. Politics seems very complicated and nuanced with a lot of history, and I'm not very up to learning about all of it. It doesn't catch my interest.
Would you ever be interested in starting a business? Why or why not? What role would you play in it? What kind of business would it be?
I wouldn't want to I think, since it would be too much effort to start up and maintain. I'd definitely need help from others. I could maybe one day be a good enough artist that I can do commissions; that would be the closest thing to a business I could run.
What kind of work environment do you prefer? What do you look for in a job?
This is mostly ideal conditions and not always feasible, but I'd prefer a work environment that isn't too tense and doesn't demand more than I can give. I'd also like flexibility with hours and to not work with too many people.
What is or was your favorite school subject and why?
I liked art a lot. I liked the flexibility of it. The writing class I took was pretty great as well. It was small and it had a chill, fun atmosphere.
How do you approach responsibility? What do you tend to expect of others?
Responsibility is important to me. I can't stand people who take more than they give, and I hold myself to a similar standard. I also expect people to take responsibility for their own actions instead of blaming outside circumstances. For example, "you made me angry so I hit you" is unacceptable because you chose to hit someone. We might not be able to control our emotions but we can certainly control what we do afterwards. It might be hard but it's doable.
Where did you go on your most recent vacation? What did you do there? How did you like it and why?
    -
What were you like as a kid? How have you changed since you were a child?
I was pretty shy and daydreamy. I was also very tidy and good at school. I don't know if my basic personality traits have changed too much though. I haven't started acting drastically different.
What was your high school experience like?
Shy, didn't have many friends, mostly acquaintances. I had this obsessive crush on one guy though in 11th grade. He rejected me but I still kept trying to win him over, and predictably that didn't work. I've learned not to do that again.
Talk about a significant event from your life.
I had my first existential crisis at age 11 lol. Otherwise my life is pretty normal.
Do you like kids? Why or why not?
Some kids are fun to be around, others are really annoying. I wouldn't want to have kids. Childbirth seems painful, and babies especially seem like a hassle to take care of, but then again you pretty much love them. If I wanted kids I would adopt.

I also filled out the Member Questionnaire!

What is beauty? What is love?
-You know something is beautiful when it just feels right. Every part comes together to create something aesthetically pleasing to the eyes, or the ears. It's very subjective.
There are different kinds of love. Infatuation can be love. Deep bonds can be love. A feeling of goodwill among humans can be love.
What are your most important values?
    -See the first questionnaire.
Do you have any sort of spiritual/religious beliefs, and why do you hold (or don't) those beliefs in the first place?
-See the first questionnaire. I also hold those beliefs because I feel like it might be right. Spirituality is very much like that for me. I can't really explain it in words.
Opinion on war and militaries? What is power to you?
-Nothing really good comes out of war, but maybe I just don't know enough. Power to me is control over resources (not just having physical strength) or just knowing what people want and using their desires against them.
What have you had long conversations about? What are your interests? Why?
-I don't have many long conversations. Probably the longest conversations I've had were when I or a friend is venting about something, and I/the friend is giving advice. I already listed my interests in the first questionnaire.
Interested in health/medicine as a conversation topic? Are you focused on your body?
-I have hypochondriac tendencies, and have freaked out about my health in the past. As a conversation topic it's okay. Nothing too boring but nothing too interesting either. I'm generally aware of my body, and I don't really understand how someone can't be.
What do you think of daily chores?
    -See the first questionnaire.
Books or films you liked? Recently read/watched or otherwise. Examples welcome.
    -
What has made you cry? What has made you smile? Why?
-I usually cry when something isn't working for me (technical difficulties and the like) and I get frustrated when I can't fix it. A lot of things make me smile, I think. I guess I can be easily amused. On the contrary, it's hard to really make me laugh.
Where do you feel: at one with the environment/a sense of belonging?
-I think when everything is peaceful and comfortable.
What have people seen as your weaknesses? What do you dislike about yourself?
-I outlined it in the first questionnaire. Laziness, doubt, inhibition.
What have people seen as your strengths? What do you like about yourself?
-I'm often aware of the validity of different perspectives. I'm also quite accepting and kind to others.
In what areas of your life would you like help?
-As I said. Logical argumentation, productivity, but I think I need help with seeing consequences of my actions as well. I'm not often aware of them.
Ever feel stuck in a rut? If yes, describe the causes and your reaction to it.
-Yep. It's because of my own inertia and having no energy to change my own life.
What qualities do you most like and dislike in other people? What types do you get along with?
-I like gentle, kind people who also know a lot of things. I dislike arrogance, rudeness, and emotional unavailability.
How do you feel about romance/sex? What qualities do you want in a partner?
-I like the idea of romance. It would feel really nice to have a special someone. The good qualities I listed above I would definitely also like in a partner.
If you were to raise a child, what would be your main concerns, what measures would you take, and why?
-Make sure the child is safe, first off, and I'd definitely have them experience the consequences of their own actions (unless it would threaten their safety) and explain the whys of things to them. I'd definitely want them to learn kindness. Sorry if it doesn't make any sense.
A friend makes a claim that clashes with your current beliefs. What is your inward and outward reaction?
-It depends how close I am with them already. If we're very close it hits harder.
Describe your relationship to society. How do you see people as a whole? What do you consider a prevalent social problem? Name one.
-I don't really feel connected to society at large.
How do you choose your friends and how do you behave around them?
-If they have good vibes and we can relate to each other through common traits and interests, they can definitely become my friend. Even if we're very different, we can accept those differences. How I behave depends on the friend. With a more serious friend I'll be more serious, with a more outgoing friend I'll be more outgoing, etc.
How do you behave around strangers?
    -See the first questionnaire.
