I once looked in a bookcase in my parents' bedroom. It had my father's college textbooks in it.

In college, he was taking Algebra, and that was normal for the time. I had Algebra in sixth grade.

Dark music, heavy. Can be nice to listen to. I like it.

The decisive thing is not the reality of the object, but the reality of the subjective factor, i.e. the primordial images, which in their totality represent a psychic mirror-world. It is a mirror, however, with the peculiar capacity of representing the present contents of consciousness not in their known and customary form but in a certain sense sub specie aeternitatis, somewhat as a million-year old consciousness might see them.

The anime only has the content of the first 4 episodes, when the novel and the manga have 8 episodes in total. Also the anime was a bad adaptation, it doesn't make sense alot of things. If you don't want to read the novel (too long), then the manga will be a more easy choice (you can read it on mangakakalot.com, remember it has 8 episodes). The ending won't let you down.

It's absolutely beautiful. Makes it possible for us secular modern people to feel the spiritual depth of Christianity. This is the same Gloria part as in the great Mass in b minor. I went to the concert when it was performed here last autumn. I did some studying before, the latin texts etc. The experience gets even better then. I know an ILI-N guy who says Bach has had a life-changing impact on him.

Yeah it's funny because educated people in Europe knew Latin in Bach's days. And of course all were Christians and knew the texts of the Mass and probably some theology too.

I know the basics of Latin and then I just spent some hours before the concert going over the texts and translating what I didn't understand. The text is from the Mass liturgy so it states the central dogmas of Christianity. It's really monumental.

The music and the lyrics work together. So in the video you linked the choir sings "Gloria in excelsis Deo..." (Glory to God in heaven) with lots of energy like they really mean it, and then they continue with "...et in terra pax...", (and peace on earth), and at that moment the music changes and becomes softer and peaceful.

There is a cultural gap between our time and the time of Bach. But it isn't too hard to fix that gap.

I have always liked Bach, he (+ Handel) seems to be a good choice when it comes to basic violin pieces. I wonder if it's because the pieces are easy to translate to the violin, and the tunes are easy to like. Having the whole orchestra play his piece (like on the vid) is so much better though. I think I should listen to his other works more.
Maybe because you are ILI? (and Bach is supposed to have been ILI himself). On the other hand, many people love Bach regardless of type.

I'm guessing it might be the tendency of ILIs to appreciate religion and spirituality?
Probably. He is an atheist as far as I know, but music is greater than these categories.

    Penderecki: Adagio

Composed after 1988 but sounds almost like some 19:th century romantic piece.

Lorn’s music sounds very Ni to me.

It makes me picture dreary overcast skies festooned with mammatus clouds made of iron filaments, and like they are begging me to bend them to my will.
