These Hugo Wolf songs would be the best soundtrack to a really ambitious or experimental film, though I'd probably instrumentalize them if singing in German would be distracting in context.

“My typology is . . . not in any sense to stick labels on people at first sight. It is not a physiognomy and not an anthropological system, but a critical psychology dealing with the organization and delimitation of psychic processes that can be shown to be typical.” —C.G. Jung
“I want the following word: splendor, splendor is fruit in all its succulence, fruit without sadness. I want vast distances. My savage intuition of myself.”
― Clarice Lispector
The decisive thing is not the reality of the object, but the reality of the subjective factor, i.e. the primordial images, which in their totality represent a psychic mirror-world. It is a mirror, however, with the peculiar capacity of representing the present contents of consciousness not in their known and customary form but in a certain sense sub specie aeternitatis, somewhat as a million-year old consciousness might see them.

From Ein Musikalisches Opfer. A canon played by two violins. They play the same melody one measure apart from each other. The bass has the theme. It's amazing how simple this is, just 8 measures of music.

YouTube likes to recommend me older songs. I'm not sure why. I'm no music historian, so I've got no idea if they're actually as old as they claim to be, or if they've been given any modern changes, but I tend to like them, so I don't complain.
Supposedly this is from 1530 and had something to do with Karl/Charles V of the HRE/Charles/Carlos 1 of Spain.
A Christmas carol from 1556!
