    Default Type someone I know

Once we went hiking together at 2am, at his suggestion, with flashlights.

Open to meeting new people, doesn't seem to frequently label nor put people in boxes, at least not in a way noticeable to me.

Really into sports, watches the games, plays, has huge posters and various other sports memorabilia: so much into sports i couldn't bring myself telling him I wished he'd continued with his ice hockey team for fear of hitting some soft spot.

A doll's face (lol), but really a guy's guy: doesn't hug much, doesn't touch frequently, keeps a certain distant front, allows for a lot of personal space but also requires a lot of personal space ("Can't you see i'm busy on the phone?!" sort of cold look).

Doesn't talk for the sake of talking so hanging out is frequently quiet and more focused on actually doing something together: hiking, walking, running errands together etc.

Doesn't really discuss his business at all, but very hospitable and welcoming otherwise.

What do you suggest his type is?
"Inasmuch as it is nothing but pure communicability, every face, even the most noble and beautiful, is always suspended on the edge of an abyss"

They asked the fox, "Who's your witness?" The fox said, "My tail!"

This description could apply to me, except for the sports and the doll face. I do know an ENTj who was really good at hockey, but dropped it to go into academia.

Maybe ESTj? I dunno. Everything other than the sports thing really does apply to me.

He's really curt with people he has one-off interactions with, like say a cab driver we once had to take, etc

I didn't mean to throw everyone off with the doll face comment

@niffer is probably right. ESTp does fit. But so might ESTj, although I have yet to see an ESTj with a doll's face. I agree with @Vespertine. An ST type.

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE

It all sounds like me tbh.

The bolded first line sounds a lot like something I'd do with an IEI childhood friend (or other childhood friends of mine in general, mostly the Se valuing ones though). But yeah a lot of hangouts with IEIs and really others I'm comfortable with are comprised of me silently doing adventurous stuff together with them.

It's not impossible, but the bolded sounds like something the rational STs would be a lot less likely to suggest.

    And I'm curt AF.

    He dropped out of a couple of activities to pick me up a couple of times and the first time i met him (coffee shop) he invited me at his parents house because he had to go there for errands after and it felt so comfortable I did go and it was really nice meeting his folks and he was extremely hospitable too and really trusting; really caught me by surprise the comfort of it all; Now he's a close friend;
