Default Enneagram wing and instinct correlation

I don't seem to understand the correlation between Enneagram wings and instincts. If I am 4w3 Sx/Sp, does that mean that I exhibit behavioral patterns of a Sexual Four and a Self-preservation Three? Like does the dominant wing take the dominant instinct and the secondary take the secondary?

Not necessarily, although it's yet to be known if a correlation like that is possible.

In other words, what you're saying could be possible. But it's not enneagram canon (I believe) and hasn't been proven yet. It is an interesting thought though.

@niffer So I went searching for an answer and got this:

Your dominant instinct will also be dominant in your enneagram type's Wing as well as Tritype.

@niffer As you're doing that, could you please help me find my tritype? I don't know anything to do with tritypes yet it seems like a really important part of the Enneagram.

The google docs in this thread has a lot of good enneagram resources. There is a section there on tritype.

Here is a good simple short test from the "Tests" section that is bound to get you started in the right direction: http://enneagramuserguide.com/tests/tritype-wing

You just need to choose which of the types from the two triads that are not of your core enneatype have core issues that you resonate with the most. I think this link, which has to do with enneagram's "object relations" theory is handy for considering "core issues" of each type: http://www.fitzel.ca/enneagram/ObjectRelns.html .
