Obsequium amicos, veritas odium parit
When typing others I've met after a long awhile -> 10/10
When typing people upon first impressions -> hazy -> can usually see elements -> maybe can't decide creative functions or between mirrors or quasi-identicals -> Instincts are usually right though -> so let's say 7.5/10
When typing tv shows -> fun as an exercise to practice differentiating people -> accuracy becomes too abstract -> probably not relevant
When typing myself -> I noticed I can/will chameleon around different people -> so harder for me to 100% identify as anything -> but enough understanding of theory and experience with myself and other people is pointing to LII now -> but relationally I can somewhat chameleon anywhere from ILE, LIE, ILI, IEI, and SLI, depending on context -> so I guess 10/10 now, whereas before maybe 5/10. I've had too many issues I guess. (actually I guess this is enneagram related http://www.9types.com/wwwboard/messages/24092.html I am 954)
I’m usually spot on with typing others because I don’t care so my objectivity is untouched. Even when I was self-typing I was honest with myself and able to quickly narrow down to a few types. The only ones I had trouble typing are my parents and I needed help from various people (who were all very strong with theory and applying theory) help me deconstruct my parents as individuals. I was right at narrowing down my mom to Te lead (she’s LSE) and my dad to being Si lead (he’s SLI).
Typing myself was very easy because I think about how I am too much LOL
I can consistently type people I have interacted with or have been closely around for a while.
Otherwise, I could use more experience.
I'm back, I got a ton better. I basically have decided the most effective way to do this is to put apparent characteristics like cleanliness on a scale, and then rank every type by characteristic. I have done this with cleanliness, with Si Polr being worst, and Si being best. Do tell me if this won't work or is inaccurate, however, I have already used this to determine type of my father, ENFj, myself, ENTj, and my mother ESFj/ISFp/ISTp. She makes too many errors to be my comparitavely Si counterpart.

An optimist - does not get discouraged under any circumstances. Life upheavals and stressful events only toughen him and make more confident. He likes to laugh and entertain people. Enters contact with someone by involving him with a humorous remark. His humor is often sly and contain hints and double meanings. Easily enters into arguments and bets, especially if he is challenged. When arguing his points is often ironic, ridicules the views of his opponent. His irritability and hot temper may be unpleasant to others. However, he himself is not perceptive of this and believes that he is simply exchanging opinions.

It is indeed likely jokes, but I tend not to laugh at those kind of jokes, as taking this seriously would provide a baseline estimate to how accurate the typings here are. It's incredibly important to know if you are right, and to not take it seriously is to say you don't care. I respect that you don't know, and have basically said you don't know, which is a perfect answer.

I think I'm pretty good actually, no actual way of knowing though since I'm the judge, jury and executioner.
I don't type people I don't interact with IRL since there's no way of testing their triggers and even then it's hard because I don't know what that person is feeling that particular day. But observing coworkers behaviours is probably the most accurate way since you see them every day trying to figure out similar things that you're figuring out. Extroversion/introversion is easy to see. Thinking/feeling is really easy to see. If you can't figure out their perceiving functions you poke them with a stick repeatedly (could be a real stick or something more metaphorical) and see how they react.
Bam, typing made easy.
it sucks..
