Idea for a Socionics Databank

What about creating a Socionics Database like this one ("MBTI-Databank", where users can vote for the type of somebody or something, using profiles with mini discussion threads)?

Same/similar layout, just with a Sociotype voting function. Including the enneagram + instinctual stacking voting section, which seems incredibly useful as well.

Redundant, beneficial, in need of improvement? Opinions, please. Also, who is qualified and actually willing to "clone" the existing website, and if so, what format can we use? It doesn't have to be fancy, just convenient. Alpha Quadra, assemble!

Ability to type by components..i.e. E/I,S/N,etc....Ti/Te,etc..4,5,6,etc...w5,w6,etc...sx/so,sx/sp...etc.

If person types by a whole (INTP,5w6 so/sx), break up the whole and spread it to the appropriate components.


Sortable rating system for comments.

Search function.

Compilation page to show most voted/consensus typing based on components.

Numbers and information that are purely fueled by user input and no typing done by the moderation unless a single suggestion on each page.

Just use MBT site. Types are same.
The site by the link is about personages, not people. Only people can be typed.

Such a database (for Socionics) would only provide more than a handful of votes/typings for a small number of people, and would be liable to inflation of ingrained typings as later voters who vote are likely to be influenced by the current status quo.

Such a project could be useful, especially if there were thousands or millions of people taking part, and if it was possible to carry out blind.

(My opinion is based on the general observation of typing threads going back ten years or so on this forum. Often, even in cases of individuals whose types are highly discussed, you might get a break of several years in discussion, only for it to be started up again, and a completely new status quo (or perhaps, even two or more competing type suggestion groups) will emerge. This is just the way it is).

I think that periodic projects to draw up lists of individuals who are good representatives of each type...at least according to current opinion...would be more useful. Having an index of the all "famous people" mentioned in the Famous People subforum, and in the relevant Quadra subforum threads would also be of some use (this could have various data added to it, such as their field of activity, and which time period they inhabited (and/or birth & death years). Such projects could then lead to projects carried out by individuals where they keep a diary or list of all/many/some of the typings they have made: in my opinion, it would be a mistake to have an "official" project that attempts to collate an exhaustive list of forum members' typings of famous people. (it would give the impression of being authoritative, which would be wrong in itself, but there are the other concerns I mentioned...it would also dilute things to a great extent, by mixing good, strong representatives of each Socionics type (at least by (subjective) respectable opinion: which may in part be strongly correlated with having a history of being extensively discussed in Socionics circles), with typings (and famous individuals: i.e. especially those who are more recently famous, or are not especially noteworthy but are somehow highly commented on and typed) that tend to be a lot more speculative). I think the Facebook groups and in the flesh meetings are also likely to be a far better environment for such a project if it was to be attempted (such groups are far more engaged and active in their very nature, they are larger in size, and do not have the issues associated with utilising anonymous individuals (and individuals who are essentially anonymous): this isn't meant as a remark about 'expertise' although some may consider that a factor.
