Default SLI-IEE conversations from irl (ENFp and ISTp)

    Self-explanatory title

    First example:

SLI - How was your poop this morning?
    IEE - Fine
SLI - Did you linger and enjoy it?
IEE - No...I got it over with and moved on
SLI - "Got it over with"? It's not a chore! It's something to be enjoyed, savored even.

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE

    ? - Have you ever slept w a virgin?
    SLI - No
? - Have you ever wanted to or not to, or does it not matter either way?
    SLI - I don't want to be w a virgin.
    ? - Why not?
SLI - Because she might get clingy. And because then she would think everyone was as good in bed as me, and for the rest of her life sex would be a disappointment.

Let me guess: the SLI in this story was male, and the IEE female?

    Texting w husband:

IEE - The doctor did a pregnancy test and it was positive, but then they did more which were negative. I took a blood test, and we'll know the result tomorrow, but I took one at home and it was negative. And I don't feel pregnant, even like at the beginning, whereas before I definitely did. So I'm almost certainly not pregnant, but there is a tiny chance. But most likely not. Just fyi, so now you know.

    SLI - K

Our interactions sometimes crack me up bc I ramble when I'm nervous, whereas he...doesn't seem to get nervous

SLI (drunk): I am sorry I sort of shoved you out the door yesterday morning.
IEE (equally drunk): Oh, I figured you had to get to work.
SLI: No, I had to poop. We just weren't there yet, you know? I couldn't poop while you are outside waiting for me. I couldn't do it. We weren't there yet.
IEE (utterly charmed): So happy we are there now. You can poop whenever you want. I will wait for you.
SLI: Yeah, we are totally there now.
    Both dissolve into giggles.

ok, so an IEE brings some food to me. However, he decides to take a bite out of it before giving it to me. The SLI glares at him and says "you eat it and then you give it to him?" (This actually involves some as well as . The IEE was unphased. )

edit: I think now this is really FiSe rather than Ti

    SLI - What's wrong?
IEE - I dunno. I'm just in a pissy mood.
SLI - Here -- have some of this [cinnamon toast]
    IEE - No, thanks.
    SLI - Okay.
IEE - Okay, I'll have some [reaches for toast]
SLI - No, not like that. Eat it upside-down, so the good part gets right on your tongue.
IEE - [bites toast upside-down] Like this?
SLI - Yeah. Wasn't that good? You feel better now?

    Along these lines:

SLI: I am home now, come over!
IEE: I don't know if I want to I am annoyed with you.
SLI: I am pouring you a beer right now.
IEE: Ok, but I am really slightly pissed off....
SLI: Duck eggs for breakfast, *insertnickname*?
    IEE: Over in five!

Not true for the LIE half of XIE's. The convos are a little strange, but not nightmarish to me. I've done that toast thing myself. The rest of the convos are foreign territory, though.

I actually find that IEE's are fun to be around, super practical, and very easy to approach and talk to. Basically, I like all the IEE's I've met irl. The females, anyway. I'm not sure I know any male IEE's.

However, even though I find them easy to approach, I also know that the best distance to stop that approach is just about at arm's length.

For Mothers Day, besides my hint for about how much I like roses, I asked my husband to go all day long without a single or even slightest reference or even acknowledgement of poop or farts. And he did okay! So I am going to ask for this every special occasion... Oh, and maybe every Sunday. Yeah, and maybe every Friday, too!

I baked a cake for my mom, whose last day before retirement was today. We are currently hanging out and waiting for her to arrive.

SLI - When is your mom going to get here? I thought you said 7.
IEE - I don't know. She's out celebrating with her friends.
SLI - I'm gonna eat that damn cake.
IEE - Don't eat the cake. She'll get here when she gets here.
SLI - [becoming genuinely agitated] Honey, I didn't eat barbecue or Arby's or chicken because I was saving room for cake. I want to eat some cake already.

SLI: I never thought I would be dating a "insert university name here" professor.
IEE: I just don't want to be a gimmick.
SLI: You are not a gimmick. I made you food.
IEE: At midnight with half a toe.
    SLI: Yeah, exactly.
IEE: You don't talk romantic, eh?
SLI: No. I make you dinner.

My SLI husband can display annoyance when expected mealtime is extra delayed. He is patient to a point, then the annoyance comes out.

But unlike with my ex, his annoyance never frightens me.. and when either of us get annoyed, its never deep and does not last, though, we will express it, like when we are arguing over design... And i really value that we both feel totally free to freely express our thoughts at any time. Its great.

My son was here last week and one day he asked me if everything was okay and I said yes, surprised, and asked why... it was because of door-slamming, LOL. My husband and I were both upstairs after Mass changing and putting things away and because I don't yet have full confidence my cat has overcome his bad habits we keep the 2nd floor doors closed. I hate that, but not as much as I hate cleaning cat poop. Actually, my husband picks that up. But I sure don't like finding it. So I banned my cat from the upstairs rooms this winter, though I have allowed him into one this spring and he's been good so far. The rest of the doors get shut, including the bathroom. The doors are old, and with weather changes they don't always close properly, so we have resorted to the bad habit of slamming them shut (rather than what we do at night, slowly and carefully pressing the doors into place). And my son hasn't spent that much time with us, with being away for the first year (of my two-year old marriage) on a gap year, and this year college and jobs, so he doesn't know how we are... and so he wondered if the big slamming boded some big problem.. LOL it did not occur to me how uncivilized this door slamming sounds. I assured him that SLI and I are pretty much always mellow - we don't get mad.

And that's pretty much true but as I have said elsewhere we have argued over design (my husband is remodeling a room plus some other stuff). We can get a bit loud, but that's a very short duration. When the discussion ends the irritation is over - solved and forgotten. My husband
is just naturally loud when he is exclaiming, and me because I get frustrated if I am not feeling heard - I then complain loudly about that and then I get heard. And we never throw things or hit things or slam things in anger. I will stamp my foot or wring my hands for emphasis, that's about all. But SLI has never acted out of anger and neither have I and that's nicely compatible. And we NEVER stay mad beyond the conversation. Anyway, its great.

IEE - There seems to be a bird in the laundry room.
SLI - [calmly, flatly] A bird in the laundry room?
IEE - In the metal spring thing coming out of the dryer
SLI - Well, turn on the dryer and he'll leave.
IEE - No. He might have been in there since yesterday, so maybe he's stuck. And I don't want to kill him.
SLI - Well, turn it on w no heat.

    [I went and did this....]

SLI - So, did it work?
IEE - I don't know. He was still in there, and he moved and scared me so I screamed, but I immediately heard a bird squawking outside, so maybe he flew out. I can't tell if he's still there or not.
SLI - Well, let's just leave the dryer running, and if he is in there he won't like that air blowing on him. He'll be uncomfortable, and he'll leave. Problem solved.

This struck me as such an Si way to handle it

Yes, its a Si way, and its tells of also SLI efficiency (not expending any more energy than necessary for a task). However, I guess I act more helpless when it comes to critter problems... I call for help for a critter large or small, and Dh helps. Its usually a spider and recently a giant bumblebee that would not leave me alone on the roof deck. I love that he helps me with these things. So if he had said to me, in your case, "Turn the dryer on with no heat", I would have not gone and done it like you, but I'd have said, "I can't do that!" and if he had bothered to say "why not?", I'd have said, "You do it" and he would have. I am very grateful he takes care of critter problems. It makes my heart feel warm. I am grateful every time he does. Its not like I cannot jump in and do it in an emergency - like, he is not near and the critter might hide in another area of our living space - in that case I do the deed. But I love that he does this. And I know he appreciates that I plan and make almost all the meals. Its not like he can't - he did this job for years before he met me - but I know he loves not having to worry about this, and he appreciates every meal I make, fancy or not. When I occasionally don't feel up to the task, or its a complicated or a large meal for guests, he is my sous chef and just makes the whole job easier. Oh, and he does all the dishes. I stack them and straighten the kitchen and put leftovers away (and he helps me with that too sometimes).

I was debating if this is because we are a different generation, but no, we do not stick to traditional roles really. We both do the things we think we are better at or prefer to take on. And for him, a lot of the time, he feels that's the things I don't like doing...

I have only been married two years and this whole thing is completely new to me, and it is still an amazing contrast to my previous marriage. We had strictly defined roles (which I have some responsibility for accepting, but this also includes wanting to keep peace) which meant I did ALL the cooking, shopping, laundry, cleaning, dishes, preparing for company - ALL of it, ALL of the time, plus I worked full-time either in my professional career and later mothering. It amazes me now to think that all those years I lived that suffocating life that a great deal of the people in my life - friends, colleagues, neighbors, church family - were all living this much easier, much saner life - like the life that I live now. And I had no idea at the time how completely different it was for them. I just thought at the time that grown-up life was just a hard road to hoe, for everybody...

(On the other hand, at I am grateful now to be aware that some people are suffering in their domestic situations, for reasons like the ones I had, and also for much more difficult things. There are many kinds of abuse besides the kind I suffered. Also some wives suffer from their husband's addictions, including porn addictions, and I was spared that... And it all makes me feel I should be doing something more with my life, since I have this wonderful everyday advantage of life with a good husband).

You're right about expending as little effort as possible, lol

I shortened theconversation for the sake of not boring people reading, but there was more to it. I wanted him to tend to the bird, but he was indisposed at the moment. He is usually the one to take care of such things, I'm happy to say, which is why I originally went and told him.

And, I understand where you're coming from wrt living a happy, sane life after living a harder one w lots of relational difficulties. My dad is an unhealthy SLE, and life w him (seeing him as a husband, living w him as a father) was very, very different than life w my husband. <3 Good for you for moving beyond that, @Eliza Thomason

I like seeing this friendly interaction
    -
    Dual type (as per tcaudilllg)
    Enneagram 5 (wings either 4 or 6)?

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE

editing to add: I like a friendly conversation with any type, and I like knowing types, as it gives me a boost for monitoring and adjusting conversation to talking about things in a way a person feels most comfortable conversing...

Maritsa, i just had a long talk - like SEVERAL hours) on the phone with my dearest EII freind, who is back where I used to live, and I miss her. I rarely chat on the phone but since I can't go see her we have these occasional practically day-long phone visits... and she is between semesters so she can now. And often I listen more than talk, and, unplanned, I told her about my flat earth explorations... and it was the first time I ever shared this with anyone except here on that thread, and of course with my husband... I so respect her for how she took in the info. She does not close her mind.. she has a real ear for truth... anyway I think she will be exploring for herself since her summer class is not so demanding ... I am going to send her some links..

SLI [pointing to bruise on IEE's knee] - Where'd that come from?
IEE - I don't know. I probably walked into something.
SLI - You don't even remember?
    [a moment passes]
SLI [chuckling] - I like a little clumsiness in a woman.

I guess I'll try to include a few from whatever conversations I can remember having with my wife.

Making something my SLI's mother really enjoyed when I prepared a pot for her:
IEE: Honey, what do you think about my cooking?
SLI: *sipping on a glass of wine* Just lovely dear, absolutely lovely.
IEE: Tell me the truth, do you really like Coq Au Vin?
SLI: *hesitating a bit* Yeah... I've tried variations I really enjoyed before. It's something my mom would looooove though; she loves rustic dishes.
IEE: Hee, hee, hee... want to know what I got the recipe from?
    SLI: Where?
IEE: From the PC game Deus Ex the part where you have to explore a French Manor! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!
SLI: *setting her glass down and slapping the table a few times* Hehehehehehohohohahahahahahee hee hee!!! Sorry, I don't know if that's me or the wine talking.
IEE: Don't worry, I'm the same way when I've been drinking.
SLI: That's a relief. *sighs and continues to sip on her wine*

    IEE Ne Creative Type

Some and role lovin too. () I too...
