Actually, as in any phenomena, there is a inverted paraboloid that describes this phenomena. Over a certain level, bodily muscularity is useless if not detrimental since it counters flexibility speed and agility, which of course were necessary for survival. That's also why the women here of the forum are yucking at Arnold of course.
I remember reading something a while back about flexibility being correlated with physical charisma.
    Physical charisma?What's that?

And I think that great physical strength is very sexy. Unfortunately I can't say the same about huge muscles. I like the thin vertical line that leads to the belly-button.

And lol. Something I found then I did a google search. Gotta-see category! You have got to see it!
Kri, you can't compare that everyday pic with a contest one! He probably has around 3% bodyfat in the contest. Any decently musuclar person at 3% bf will look impressive&scary. Out of contest he's probably muscular but not to horror show leveles

lol, Fabio, actually I posted those pics because one time I was watching this guy at a competition and he looked scary, but very muscular and strong. And then he gave a short interview and he was wearing a shirt with a collar. He looked like a low-end businessman. The muscles didn't show. The contrast was HUGE!

Finding shirts with these arms might prove to be a bit difficult...

    And trousers with these thighs...

Actually I find bodybuilders ok. If I had naturally bigger muscles I might have tried to be one

However I think swimmers have rather good and balanced bodies. A bit thin somehow but still ok.

Yes swimmers always have nice bodies. One of the reasons I put my daughter in swim classes at the YMCA is because of all the college boys who teach swim classes and work as lifeguards there.

Lol. I wouldn't be surprised if they did. I haven't heard that story though but I have a feeling it is an urban legend. However this guy is called "most hated man in bodybuilding" or something. I thought everyone with big enough biceps has more than enough friends but apparently that isn't true.

Also, unless they also spend some time jogging they tend to develop a sort of awkward walk since swimming develops leg muscles differently from walking or running.

I really think these guys are way past the point of diminishing returns. If the amount of time and effort invested on building up such muscles would give you Superman-like strength, fine. But you end up spending countless hours of intense work in building up muscles that have little everyday practical use.

I think women "go crazy" because it's fun to go crazy in front of other women. But when those women are on their own, they're not likely to go "crazy" because no one's around to look at them.

Yeah, it's like when I'm with the guys and we're being guys, talking about how hot a girl is, and or what we'd do to her, etc. I can understand that. It's kind of a group thing or something.

What makes a swimmers body nice compared to Arnold Schwartneggars's body?

When you say "nice", is that related to sexual attractiveness, or not?

Would a person with a swimmer's body influence you in entering into a relationship with them?

You didn't ask me but in my opinion swimmers body cries "HEALTHY". Where Arnolds Body cries "ARTIFICIAL". So I would say women are naturally more likely to be attracted to whatever looks naturally strong and healthy. Arnold doesn't look very natural but instead quite artificial and fake. Arnold's body doesn't directly reflect the quality of his genes because of the perceived artificiality. Anyways there are probably people out there who choose "UNNATURAL" over "NATURAL" for whatever reason. Like there are men who like artificial boobs even though they really don't symbolize anything about the quality of the woman's genes.

A swimmer is healthy as XoX stated and the muscles are tight and compact, more sleek. It could be sexual attractiveness or aestheitc appeal. One's body would not influence me one way or another into entering a relationship. I'm married and my husband is afraid of water for instance

    a) it is more natural looking. And swimmers develop very nice shoulders.
    b) yes
    c) I'm married and my husband doesn't have a swimmers body. See our photo under "VI" in "what's my type". But it might lead to an initial attraction that could develop into a relationship, if I were single.

For some while something about this thread felt wrong, but I couldn't tell what. Now I can. It's almost as if women are seen as a separate species. "The Lives and Mating Habits of Women." Blake goes about it like a scientist, and other men share the observations they've made in their field studies. Which is a good thing, in a way. But there are faint echoes of the kind of book that tells you How To Keep Your Pet Gerbil Happy and Contented. "You feed them raw meat every morning." That kind of advice. Almost as if the underlying assumption was that women are different. Well, yes, we are - but not THAT different! Blake's questions don't have any exotic or outlandish answers at all; just human ones. We are human and as humans we like attractiveness... and we like it when the attractiveness looks natural instead of artificial. Aren't most men like that as well?

That's like asking if a track girl is likely to have a nice body. Girls with nice bodies take care of themselves and are somewhat athletic, unless they have a very naturally 'good body' metabolism, which is rare.

    It's not that complicated.

It does, however, make me feel like doing some crunches and puschups

Yes... I think it’s attractive when guys have feminine aspects to their look (some can play it off well).

Maybe I should look for an Eastern ESFj then....

I've been rocking the slightly effeminant look for a few years now.... and, I'm lanky by nature (see: INTj).

    Hmm....

I feel the same way about muscular guys (as in musclebound) as many guys probably feel about a high maintenance 10 female.

The first thing that pops to my head is that they care about appearances far more than I do. That they care so much about their superficial outward appearance they are willing to spend a great deal of time doing so...time not spent on developing their brain or self-improvement in other areas of their life to make them a really well rounded person.

Just as it would be rare to find some muscle bound guy who didn't put that level of sustained effort into their appearance, its also rare to find a woman willing to put that level into her appearance who doesn't suffer from a level of self-centredness.

I guess in a weird way I actually see it is a sign of weakness. To have to promote your physical a lot because maybe what's underneath isn't quite so hot.

I tend to guy's who aren't extreme in either way. Slender guys who seem to have problem actually gaining weight to guys a bit bigger than average but in a Teddy Bear Cuddly way, not muscley or obese.

What really counts for me is what's underneath...brains, talent, and character.

*says the guy with perfect physique* I do agree though, just because someone's in shape doesn't mean anything about how smart, superficial or not, or how well rounded they are.

This part is usually easily distinguishable upon first impression, and I dare say that it's fairly hard to be well-rounded and physically fit at the same time.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

Anyway, running and other sports are good for your brain, all physical activity is.
Ectomorphs are usually the most predisposed towards both studies and long-distance running, and the correlation is strenghtened by the fact that people that have the willpower to excercise frequently usually also have the necessary will power to do their assignments, at least IME

When are you going to end with this stereotypical crap? First, S and N, now, fit != brainz....
*says the guy with perfect physique* I do agree though, just because someone's in shape doesn't mean anything about how smart, superficial or not, or how well rounded they are.
She was talking of muscle-bound types, probably like that gugelhupf guy in the photos. Bodybuilders. Not athletes, or people who work out in a gym in order to stay fit.
