but how bad?

a year ago, his teacher filled out the vanderbuilt evaluation scale for him... this was what she wrote:

The Frequency Code is as follows:
0= Never 1= Occasionally 2= Often 3= Very Often

Maybe he'll do better in the Montesorri(sp) School

Patrick's parents put him in one when he was little, but I think he got sick of it after a while or something.

As an ENFp. I was a hell child at school. Major attention seeker
Now im a model employee etc go figure.

School should teach people how to think not what to think. I think give him lollies and let him be the most ESTp he can be. Then he will follow his strengths

I was an hidden troublemaker. I talked talked talked talked but somehow the teacher was never able to catch me. She kinda liked this fact? I was very good at school as a child so they didn't really make a big deal out of it.

I wasn't shy except with the girls I liked. I remember a particularly awful episode, in which a girl I liked wanted to kiss me, but since it was in front of the class and, therefore, embarassing, I punched her (not strong)

I wasn't particularly high manteinance (at school) - I just had a bad temper when they picked on me. At home, though, I always wanted my parents to play with me and got very angry if they didn't. In the end they figured to let me go out with friends even as a small child.

Many things mentioned in that quote are a bit...unimportant?

I used to do the oppositional behaviour. It was when I perceived the voice of the teacher to be too loud. Now, I don't honestly know if it was loud or not - I just thought it was.

Eeheh, this was kind of a major problem.

Too, but I'm usually able to be distracted and keep listening.

WTF? Why is this a problem?

I don't know...I think I figured out that there were some rules I had to abide to in order to convive peacefully. Maybe tell him that if he complies that means that he fooled the teachers.

I was a "good" kid. The only negative remark I got was exactly the same from almost every single teacher fron K-8. Shop (Metal, Wood, Electrical) and English in Jr. High was okay. The comment was something to the effect of, "Michael is very bright and intelligent but refuses to apply himself in his work." One would think educators would be smart enough to know that I was BORED. The only other negative thing would be reading time in elementry school. After lunch, to calm us down, we had to read in silence fo 45 minutes. I loathed it so much. I always got into trouble during that time because I would either stare at the clock and day dream or talk to a neighbor =P

I wish I had positive things to say about ESTp children, but Daniel's mother always told me about the negative.
The only things that she told me that she considered positives was that he was incredibly intelligent, and he used this intelligence to manipulate his teachers and peers (I guess it was better than using violence).

If I were you, I would enroll him sports and keep him there. Make sure you keep him away from all drug elements and keep him focused on sports. I think Daniel wouldn't have been such a troublemaker if he'd been forced to stick with sports.

I agree with FDG on whether or not many of the things listed are actually problems for the child. The only real problems are for the teacher who is attempting to work with numerous other children. Also, part of schooling (at least in the usa) is to rear up good citizens...this includes compliancy and acceptance of "authority" aka "our elders".

I also think that FDG has a good idea in terms of "fooling the teachers". While this might bring up arguments about being manipulative etc., the thing is, we all manipulate people or things one way or another. And those who go far in life (in terms of monetary success) are those who are capable of manipulating people...in which there is a win-win situation.

So, perhaps tell your son that ya'll are gonna figure out how to fool the teachers. And to do so, we gotta figure out what the teacher likes and what the teacher doesn't like. Have him observe the teacher and report to you what he notices. Then maybe you two can figure out ways of having him give the teacher a little of something SHE wants....so he can get a lot of something HE wants.

I think it will be better at the Montessori school.

I want to enroll him in martial arts. I think it will be comperable to providing the proper "pack" structure for an agressive dog. Dogs shouldn't be trained not to be dogs (as many people do

), they should be trained how to be great dogs.

Patrick loved it.

I guess if you are in the right area, they can be fun. They used to go on hikes and boat trips, fishing and everything. He showed me some pictures and from hearing him talking about it and from the looks on his face in the pictures he looks like he had a blast. The only negative thing he said was the scout master was "pussy" (word he used) and kept yelling at him for cursing. (
