I found it funny that my ISTp dad could drink massive amounts of beer yet still drive home without a scratch, even though he felt like the world was tilted about 90 degrees.

    I'd love a pic!

Oh, and i'm sure its been brought up before but damn meatburger, you ARE an ISTp magnet. It seems every other friend is one

that is what i was getting at. if there is an inescapable appropriation that is required in the act of understanding, this brings into question the validity of socionics in describing what is real, and hence stubborn contradictions that continue to plague me.

bmx is stupid. look at those tiny stupid bikes. jeez, they are so small and slow.

Anyway, being a bicycling enthusiast/elitist i have to be excessively critical.

    Mountaining biking- stupid
    bmx- stupid
    hybrid bikes - stupid
road biking - awesome. Train you to be an athelete, not a dog w/ tricks

Reasons: Mountain bikes are cumbersome and inefficient. bmx bikes are tiny and are more for 'showing off,' than proper training and sport. hybrid bikes mildly efficient, but ridiculously slow compared to a road bike.

BMX takes skill and patience, while mountain-biking is pure adrenaline. Road-biking = snore. Go in a straight line and breath exhaust for a couple hours? Sounds rad.

Where do you bike? Going up and downhill with roadbikes is far better than doing it with mtb, much more speed, more distance covered, etc

Your perispective sounds of somebody that hasn't really had long experience with road biking

I agree going downhill you could go a lot faster on a road bike. You need a lot bigger balls to do tricks on a BMX or downhill on a mountain bike though. Going uphill? That doesn't really sound much fun lol

It's like a conquest. Looking at a mountain from its base, and the looking downwards towards the plains below, thinking you've gone 1500+ m up only by yourself.

No experience, actually. I'm not saying it doesn't require a ton of athleticism. And it probably has its intense moments, but the scale is different. Unless you're hardcore and doing Lance Armstrong type shit, you get a much bigger bang for your buck flying down a mountain on two-foot wide single-track dropping off ledges, going down ladders, navigating root systems, bunny-hopping logs, hitting jumps... man, I need to get out of Manitoba.

road biking is a sport, bmx is a hobby.

i'm playing around. i'm very passionate about a road-biking society in which people dedicate more time to travel and don't use cars. I know that some people have a lot of stuff to do, and need fast car travel. But the average american probably spends an hour or two watching tv or playing computer that could be donated to 30 minutes of travel time.
