"College Ruined My Life." - Kid Who Couldn't Get A Job And Make His Loan Payments Packs His Shit And Peaces Out To China
The last one is one of the funniest things I've ever read and it's short so just read it even if you don't care about this topic.
Now a degree is a commodity, no wonder more students are cheating
This is amazing if you read the comments. In England, they used to have an educational system like France or Germany with low/no cost and they encouraged more vocational options. Then, they switched to a system like America and it's caused all sorts of problems.
I saw this, so now I'm asking that you do.

A historian explains how mainstream conservatives made Trump
I laughed out loud.
^ Trump made himself. Or perhaps Television made him, since he is really playing the role of President on TV. What is bad is that many people are happy with him, because he's both a racist and he's playing a racist on TV. Plus, he's not an intellectually curious person, so his approach to every problem is personal (how does this affect me?) rather than effective (how does this affect you and what can we do to improve things?).
His supporters all grew up with TV unreality and their own actions don't have any consequences in their own lives, so they like it when they see someone bringing chaos to the establishment. They think that they have no stake in the status quo so they want to burn it down, and Trump is doing that. They want to turn the entire US into the Bahamas after a hurricane, and somehow they think that they will be watching it all on TV from the safety and comfort of their living room, smoking cigars and saying "Hey, call for some Dominos, because I'm hungry. Add two Pepsies to that."
When I was raising my son, I didn't hit him. When his behavior needed to be corrected, his mother and I used Consequences, where the kid is allowed to experience the consequences of his actions, which is kind of hard for an adult to do because the results are not immediate, although they are long-lasting and impressive to the kid.
I wish, I wish, that every person who thinks that Trump is good for the country could be forced to live with him and experience the consequences of his behavior directly. Without the rest of us having to do that, too.

Sometimes you should correct someone's behavior. I'm correcting his behavior myself now that I have enough B12 not to be sick. Donald Trump has already flushed his life down the toilet, so all he needs is perspective.
And really, if your kids didn't eat their vegetables, you'd let them go blind? I doubt it. "Oh mommy, daddy, I can't see!" "Hehehehehe, you shall be blind forever because you didn't eat your vegetables! You shall never see us grow old, nor your life's course unfolding! Now don't hassle the masters!" That's the punishment Trump deserves, but not someone who doesn't understand consequences.
What is Donald Trump's favorite beverage?

Order of Nine Angles
This is ridiculous! I wonder how much influence groups like this can have. The answer seems to be quite a bit.
I'm Your Lawyer, Mr. Grinch
It's a (obviously fictional) defamation suit filed by the Grinch against the Whos for the contents of the Grinch song. It's not even vaguely close to Christmas now, but I still reference the Grinch song when it's not Christmas. Enjoy.
Idiocracy
Idiocracy is a movie written and directed by Mike Judge that's about a literal average Joe that, due to cheesy plot device cryonic experiments, finds himself 500 years in the future… and due to idiots outbreeding smart people, he is now the smartest living human. Brought to you by Carl's, Jr.®!
While the introductory segment comes off as a pro-eugenics propaganda piece, the majority of the film actually criticizes the culture which glorifies idiocy more than anything else. Especially Fox News, which led to the production company, Twentieth Century Fox, doing everything it could to bury the movie; eliminating the entire budget, spending nothing on advertising, then releasing it in 6 theatres for one showing after midnight, then declaring it a flop.[1] Viacom managed to find a copy of it, and then played it on Comedy Central whenever they could. It's actually not that bad.

Against popular culture
I disagree with almost all of this and just see Adorno as yet another resentful failed German artist now, but it was interesting.
Why American novelists don't deserve the Nobel Prize
1. American writers are "insular narcissists" — see Idiocracy, Donald Trump
2. Philip Roth, who bears the same semblance to Trump that Nobel laureate Thomas Mann did to ******, got no Nobel Prize, with it going to Bob Dylan(!) instead
3. I think we'll be more than fine
4. Now, be evil and communistic and make art!
Quotations about Ignorance
If you don't read this, you might be an ignoranus.
democratic republic, yes, but that doesn't really take away from the main point, nor the people like Tocqueville that he quotes who is specifically referring to our system of governance. The issue is of turning it from a democratic republic where presumably elected officials represent the will of the people at large, into an oligarchic republic controlled solely by the wealthy elite - much simpler and clearer to focus on the shifts and changes than to get super nitpicky about terms. To be fair, it's doubtful (to me) that it was ever truly a democratic republic considering only "the right people" were allowed to vote etc.

An End to Pornography, Sophistry, and Panty Raids
Complaining about bad philosophy is a good way to get me to read about feminism (despite the title, it's not a rant about pornography.)I propose that in future encyclopedias of philosophy, an entry on Warner’s Glabrous should sit alongside—no, replace—the one on the obsolete theory of the Chinese Room. Along with the steady exposure of sex offenders and abuse enablers in the academy, Warner restored my hope that the 21st century can be different, that sterile ideas by misogynists need not salt the intellectual earth, and that the life of the mind need not always be dominated by the sophistry of panty-raiders.
