Based on what other people have noticed, in what ways can these types be similar to one another, leading to possible mistype between the two?

They are both detail oriented and perfectionistic, and often pessimistic. ESIs are however normally much more physically involved in the outside world and active in an everyday sense.

Some intellectual male ESIs can be similar to ILIs. However, in my experience, even intellectual male ESIs will show a certain lack of confidence in "business" mattes when they're outside their domain of experience, whereas you won't find this to be true for ILIs.
