Satine from Moulin rouge is most definitely sp/sx. I cringe in all the ways I related to her, and well.. even if I wasn't a courtesan in anyway, I dont think its a good thing lol. Perhaps it was Nicole Kidman's portray of Satine, she has a very detatched even icy presence even when she's seducing you. It's why the casting directors chose her over Courtney Love. In their words, Nicole was Ice (appearing Sp), Courtney was more fire (sx). I wish I could link the scenes where she's trying to seduce Christian (Ewan Mcgregor) the way she just turns on her Sx energy. I mean, it was played comical way because of the context. Even if she is aware of how to seduce crowds. she is in no way So. Besides wanting to be an actress, there is no interest in connecting with people. She has idealizations of reaching a higher version of herself. I think Christian may be Sx/so.

i type satine so/sx. she is way too focused on the crowd in her performances. her main concern is being an actress. that's the social focus. when i watched the movie last time i tried to type everyone's stacking and i think everyone's synflow (as well as the dynamics). both protagonists and antagonists. it's one of the (few) cases, though, where so/sx and sp/sx can appear very similar in their aims/issues/role in a narrative. so, that's interesting, imo.
That is quite interesting, have you thought of her socionics type. Perhaps her being fe valuing rather than social first?
But also, we have to think about the fact that she IS an actress, by being a courtesan and being a performer. So I assumed that is why she had that social focus. I couldn't tell if it was Fe and knowing how to manipulate the crowd / people or what. I think what makes it hard is also, is she constantly acting for others for others sake, or is she constantly aware that this is how she can get by. And she goes by what she can do, to get by. In the song with Christian, I know she remarks that love is a game, and that could suggest a social drive and aware of social trickery. It's not like an SP person would choose the duke, just to live comfortably.
But I suppose... if we compare her to Zidler, despite his social graces, he would be a SP first person. Do you think?

i don't have an opinion on the characters sociotypes. however, the film is written by baz luhrmann (LSI) and craig pearce (IEI) and their films are usually crowded with beta characters (and actors). so, Fe-valuing is likely. christian could be beta NF (EIE?) actually.
imo, zidler is so/sx as well. christian is an obvious sx/sp and the duke is sp/so ...
I agree with Satine being Sp/Sx.
She's 4w3, and her 3 wing makes her seem more superficially "Social" than she really is.
She cares more about diamonds > social reputation.
She's playing the crowd just in order to get her Sp needs met; it's all just a mirage. She's an entertainer in the stereotypical Type 3 way, but she doesn't truly care about society or social connections much at all.
Also, an So/Sx would feel great shame over being a prostitute, for social reputation matters more to them than being rich; an So/Sx person would be careful about getting involved in something that society at large frowns upon; and if they ever did, they'd hide and not celebrate it – doing the latter is more commonly a contraflow thing.
Satine is quite practical about the whole affair (until she falls for the SX first Christian); and even before she falls in love with Christian, she repeatedly mentions how a girl has to take care of herself, get the money, etc. So/Sx being Sp blindspot is rather oblivious or negligent of those matters.
I'd also say that Christian is rather Sx/So. In contrast to Satine, it becomes obvious how much he lacks the grounded focus of SP; he doesn't concern himself with money or practical matters, he's very much "head in the clouds". And he does yearn for social recognition and being part of a group, which Satine is not truly concerned with.
