Been watching Star Trek: Prodigy. Even tho the show is aimed at kids I think it's the best installment in the trekkie franchise that we've had in awhile. We're only three episodes in and they can still fuck it up and maybe I'm just charmed at something new- but I like this a lot better than 'Lower Decks'. I like the "Authority is good if the authority is actually technically useful and knows stuff" angle. I've always kinda thought that- what is really bad is when the authority is a bad combination of completely ineffectual, logically retarded, inefficent and heartless. But commanding other people is a bit different than just technically knowing stuff- often the shy introverted NT technical nerd might not be so hot at commanding others as that takes people/interpersonal skills- but Hologram Janeway can be the Mary Sue that is good at both lol.

    Leveling the playing field.

I told my son that there were lots of animals that killed people. He had no trouble believing that, and I hope it kept him out of trouble.

It’s often the guys who think they’re invincible who run into trouble.

That’s aside from the ones who are just unlucky.

Believe it or not, seeing this kind of shit adds value, purpose, and meaning to my life. @Adam Strange we were talking about watching the news. As sad as it is to deal with the things that happen, they need to be dealt with. Someone has to put an end to them. Things like this add more reasons to go on living (not that I need more).

I want the world to identify those red flags about people like him BEFORE these tragedies happen. I want people to cast off their naivety and equip themselves with the knowledge that is essential for protecting themselves and their loved ones from these horrible things. Their lives are irreplaceable, but the least we can do for these kinds of victims is listen to their stories and then help to prevent it from happening to others, using the normalization of psychological knowledge for self-care and protection.
