If I'm ever on the east coast, I'm not a music student so I'm still training in depth for a few months pretty intensively without really much else going on besides a few gigs with a salsa band and my day job, I have a good friend in rl that plays the sax/flute so we may travel through the east coast at some time, he's a bit further ahead than me because he majored in music in college and I quit for a while.
Yea lmao I don't know about that piano player but I like that song a lot when chick plays it on the album "My Spanish Fantasy".
Lol here's another
You're on the east coast right?
RIP Mulgrew Miller.

I've been working on this one lately. I'm a big fan of Gershwin and always loved this piece. @Park - just as Freddie Hubbard's Naturally song does for you, this song puts me at ease.

I really want to learn this song, but I'm going to let it sit for a while, I'm currently working on bop and reading a lot of the parker book. I've been trying to find the clifford brown version... but its not on youtube!!!!

Yea I know I was attempting to be clever and trying to be subtle about it. He died in a car accident at the age of 25, was a really good trumpet player. That's why I think its an essential standard for a trumpet player to carry on the legacy etc...You won't find it on anything... Benny Golson wrote it in memory of Clifford Brown.

Here's a track I quite like:
Excellent selection, Kim. I like the tune and the solos.
And no, jazz isn't for everyone. I'm glad you find it fun to listen to.
Thanks for the contribution, Narc.

I'm not a fan of that old jivy style you could barely call jazz, but I like Diana Krall.
She's Canadian, btw.

This made my day today. Personally, I can appreciate jazz so much more when I can watch the musicians perform (more so than with other genres that I can just play in the background).

This is the kind of stuff that might just get me through a Canadian winter. That's actually Samba de Verão, a Brazilian bossa nova.
Seriously sexy. I like this one a lot:Gabriela Anders OMFG <333333333333
Her voice and the ones I mention above just make me swoon. Maybe that is why I do not much care for Diana Krall - her voice just does not have this warm and fuzzy and sweet and summery effect on me. I can get butterflies and goosebumps listening to Viktoria Tolstoy or Diana Panton (or Gabriela Anders, for that matter, who is playing while I am typing this).

Well Krall is LSE 6 sp/sx, and Anders is IEI 4 sx/sp. Different musical styles, too.
