People seem to be answering this as this is "what's your favorite intoxicant?"
If you forget the ill effects as described in the op, the trade off is very beneficial with drugs and alcohol.

Deviating from and even failing to read the OP are crowd favorites around here.

Given the lack of negative consequences I would live on hemp oil-infused food and add psilocybin to every meal, then do a few rails of coke to kick myself into action as necessary.

Yeah, keep leaking your rectal drainage all over the forum, why don't you.

    Seriously, grow the fuck up.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

I just think people want to know why you are hurting yourself this way korpsey, why when you die- people will be thankful instead of missing you, instead of not being able to think of a nice, virtuous thing about yourself.

It's just bizarre, I guess we care because the only person that you are really hurting is yourself.

I think absurd has a point - actually, I think he's right on the money: you are a self-hating effeminate person. No need to be that way. No need to attack people so much. It doesn't make you look like the macho dude, it makes u look like an insecure woman.

Why does calling a man a woman always seem to be perceived as an insult? I think the idea of being a feminine man is awesome.

I have given numerous people their first LSD trips while trip sitting. The way people can connect to themselves, others and the world around us never fails to astonish me.. ..I'm still wonderstruck.
This reminds me of the time I went on a day long hike with two (male) friends of mine. At one point we all layed down in this canyon to look at the sky and take everything in. Everything was just so beautiful that I started to cry, then I looked over and saw that they were crying too. I could tell that we were all feeling the same thing. I was thinking "This is so Amazing! We are all connected right now." It was wonderful. I thought we were having this deep and wonderous experience together (and we were).

Then, later that night when we were at my house, they told me that they had been on mushrooms. Haha.

Have you read Terence McKenna's 'Food of the Gods'? A friend of mine, who is really into phsychedelics, had it and I browsed it a bit. It was really interesting, the bits that I read. You may like it

Funny story, though they still had that experience, even if chemically assisted.

OP's hypothesis only eliminated some of them. Paranoia isn't one of them. Blackburry's comment is on topic.

This actually reminds me of how I don't often like making many people around me aware that I'm on psychedelics. "Are you, like, seeing hallucinations? How does it feel? Are you all drugged now? What do you see on this? What color is this?" Ughhhh.. Usually people treat you more authentically if they think you're sober. "You're just saying that because your high!" "Fuck you, it's real experience to me. You're just spewing that boring bullshit because your sober."

I've only heard some of his lectures but I identify with his view of a shaman to be honest.

You could have been more clearer on that since most people make the mental and physical division quite clear, especially since you could have written "without ill bodily effect".

Cartesean dualism is probably more popular in folk psychology these days than it is among those who actually familiarize themselves with a little modern psych and neurology. And the majority of respondents answered the OP in accordance with my intentions, so appeal to "most people" is mooted. However, since I was more curious about the preference distribution per the poll, it is not such a huge deal if written responses should color outside the lines.

~Drugs, drugs, drugs, some are good, some are bad. Drugs, drugs, drugs, ask your mom or ask your dad. ~

Nah, I like tha balance of a clear body and mind. Exercise, risk taking sports, sex and friendships bring benefits too. And juicing. I drink lots of home made juice.

Drugs are a shortcut to revelations, they come at a large cost though, physically. And psychologically. They are not even worth it. I have seen way to many cracked out crack heads and addicts atmy last job! Really sad.

I wanted to be a cop once, even got to the third interview. Apparently marijauna is illegal.

Alcohol and heroine and meth are the worst though. Wouldn't touch those with a ten foot pole. Far far worse then anything else.

Alphas really do like group drug use. Not my cup of tea.

Jesus, I forgot about datura. That's a weird one for this thread, and also in general. From my personal experience with it and observing others under its influence, it probably won't be fatal if one doses correctly by body mass. However, since it more or less artificially induces a sleepwalking-like delirium where one's phenomenal experiences are often widely divergent from physically exacted and encountered externalities (e.g. holding extended conversations with hallucinated people, ripping a space heater out of wall under the mistaken impression that it's an oven with a pizza burning inside, etc.), the likeliest physical ills to come are from walking into traffic or otherwise injuring oneself while being mentally disconnected from everyday standards of cause and effect.

While it's possible to have a profound experience while under datura's effect (though I didn't, and actually created a bunch of mischief and hard feelings with my antics) I wouldn't classify it as a particularly fun drug, especially since it's difficult to remember what happened after its effects finally pass.

Upon further reflection, drugs would make me feel as if I'm constantly teetering on the edge of several identity and existential crises. Too much incentive to question living, etc. Cross one out of "drugs" and into "tea".

That's not how I am at all when I know someone's on a good one. This is me, "I'm making a sandwich, do you want one?" And then continues with whatever conversation we were having.

Yeah, didn't think so. It was just a thing that came to my mind. I don't even know you well enough to imply that you would be one of those people, but you seem too cool to do so.

Where is the "all of the above" option? I'm alpha and general go towards energy drinks. I need an extra burst of caffeine, but hot coffee is usually too acidic for my stomach.

Free of intoxicants. Intoxicants of the mind include psychological intoxicants; excessive amounts of anything: TV, internet, worrying, obsessive emotions, mind junk, unhealthy patterns of thinking, needless violence.

Would you then agree that there is moderation in everything? It's sometimes good to keep yourself updated and entertained with medias like TV and internet. It's good to worry about whether you should have a back up plan in case your first plan doesn't play out. If you're never obsessed with love in a relationship, it's pretty hollow. Mind junk, unhealthy patters of thought and needless violence are always not advisable by tautology, since they imply excess by their very definition. When we don't include that excess to that definition, there is usually room for some of it. Is there room for drugs, Wacey?

You can live however you want to man, I'm not your Mom. Fi, usually means FOR I. Or for me. I don't think I ever said I never did drugs, once. I was talking about right now. Try shooting up herion in moderation. Or slamming that meth into your viens just a little bit. I have seen many lives ruined by drugs. I have seen cracked out 16 year old boys who weigh less then 100lbs. I have seen 40 year olds who spent the better part of their lives high on marijauna. I have seen college kids who drink in "moderation" 4-5 times a week to passing out. Or the moderate drinkers that spend everynight buzzed. I have palpated 70 y/o's who spent the last century puffing on a cirgarette. Have you ever listened with a stethoscope to a C.O.P.D. patient breathing? Or seen the desperation of a morphine addict? Or watched the weekend etards? Or responded to a call when three males ripped on blow ran over a three year old because they were to busy yelling at the mother for yelling at them to slow down while driving?

    I have.

I never said drugs do not have their place. They do. Just not for me. And I have heard the "stoned ape theory".

As to mental intoxicants, I don't have cable and don't want it. If you can't see that much of TV is junk, then thats you perrogative. I prefer netflix, or the internet for media: no advertisment.

Drugs are not the problem. Its the dysfunctional chaos they bring that is the problem. Maybe the chaos is already here though....

    Irrelevant.

Analgesics and fighting off a potentially deadly withdrawal symptoms sound like moderate actions.

    I have.
There's no need to bring out anecdotal evidence that people can be miserable fuck-ups.
