I don't think there's an exact correlation. Peter and I scored the same thing, and we're not identicals.

I agree, there is definitely no direct correlation of the descriptions themselves empirically, but the idea is the same.

    16 types
    16 types

    4 functions
    4 traits

Obviously they intended to make a rating identical the MBTI. But their test is not very good. Of course, who are they to make a good test when everybody else has huge difficulties designing appropriate tests. However the descriptions are quite useful and probably empirical. W e COULD make one to one correltions, and in the process improve our understanding.

Simply point out two types that seem similar to you, like I did, ENFJ and the FAlse MEssiah.

I think any type could be any type. It depends on too many non-function related factors. ADD, for example, can give someone the urge to get a new relationship every 6 months to 3 years.

Again, I think the test is flawed, not the categories.

For instance, which one would most like an INTP?

You don't have to be correct all the time for all people, but out of the given 16 description for each gender, which one fits the best?

    no correlation.

whereas for MBTI and socionics, the material being described on each dichotomy is somewhat similar if differing in the particulars, these dichotomies are completely different from socionics.

The dichotomies themselves are, but the 16, I repeat 16, types are not.

why do you insist that the types must be the same? what evidence do you have to suggest that?

It self evident that the makers of the Cupid Test picked the number 16 from MBTI. Thats' why the types are the same, where else would that number come from?

ummm... 16 is 2^4. its the natural result of having 4 dichotomies. how are you to say that this test used 4 dichotomies as an influence of MBTI? in fact, this test uses 5 dichotomies for 32 types considering male/female.

    are you nuts??

how is this a semantic?? it's very reasonable that a test have 4 either/or dichotomies. you're just hearing whatever you want to hear.

Why do you think they picked 4 dischotomies? Because MBTI uses 4 dichotomies for each type. Jung has 2 for each type.

first of all, they actually have 5 dichotomies.

nonetheless, 4 or 5 dichotomies is optimal because 4 dichotomies yields a manageable number of descriptions while still providing some insight.

for this reason, 1 dichotomy would not be very useful and 10 dichotomies not very practical.

Are you implying that in MBTI there is no distinction between males and females? Do you think that Briggs believes people to be unisex?

    Now that IS novel.

iN CHEMISTRY THEY HAVE COUNTLESS DIOCHOTOMIES FOR ELEMENTS, AND SAME IS TRUE IN GENETICS IN BIOLOGY, AND IN MUSIC, ETC.

yes, in MBTI there is no technical distinction between males and females. you can have a male or a female at any type.

So a female of a type will behave romantiacally exactly as the male of the type according to MBTI, in your opinion?

    10 dichotomies not very practical.
This is my main problem: 10 diachotime are great for descriptions. In chemistry they habe manu more elements than that for describing chemical substances, the same with genes in biology for describing different species, and so on.

    indeed.

however, there is something of a difference. for example, how many compounds have you ever heard of which contain scandium, titanium, vanadium, chromium, manganese, gallium, germanium, yttrium, zirconium, niobium, molybdenum, technetium, ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, indium, tellurium, lanthanum, cerium, praseodymium, neodymium, prometheum, samarium, europium, gadolinium, or any one of a hundred other elements?

my guess is not many. if you understand the framework for compounds, you will come to know what compounds are possible and how each element might fit into each compound. for example, you will never see SrNi. It won't happen.

genes are the same way; a human might be GATTACAGATTACCAGGATCGATATAGTACGGCATGGATCGGACTGGGGC ATGGTAGGCGTAGGCGGATGA

while a fly (not all that similar to a human) might be
    GATTACAGATTACCAGGATGGATATAGTACGGCATGGATCGGACTGGGGC ATGGCAGGCGTAGGCGGATGA

(there are exactly two changes in the above sequences)

this might not be very accurate, but you get the picture.

if all of these sequences were complete permutations of however many genes an organism actually has, there would be absolutely no way to map them. there would be absolutely no way to fit that number on a piece of paper the size of the globe.
