Unlikely, I've seen ESFps and ESTjs mulitask very succesfully. ESTps too.

I multitask, but if the tasks require a lot of physical accuracy, I can sometimes be too slow. In the lab, there are usually many thing to do, all have to be done at a certain rate. (a la, "add the dye, wait 4 min, wash it with ethanol"). Multitasking in necessary to avoid wasting time, but it's a bit dangerous, because being late might have awful consequences (having the dye on the bacteria culture for longer than was said in the manual, might cause lysis.)

Erkki doesn't multitask, but it's great to see him try. If he's helping me out in the kitchen and is dicing something, he usually won't even notice that I said something.

EDIT: Women multitask more than men and I don't think it's type-related. Both Te and Ne will help multitasking:
Ne: person can monitor more processes at the same time.
Te: person will be good at logically deciding which order to do things, so s/he will be able to have many tasks at the same time. The person will do concentrate on one thing at a time, but will have many developing tasks (many tasks being done "at the same time")

I somewhat disagree... I don't think a person can really multitask with activities that are "powered" by the PoLR.

I'd add that sometimes people have to do things that are PoLR activities. Even if they are normally good at multitasking, they won't be able to multitask when doing those things.

2-3. 1-2IE's open and one BNET window open. And Trillian is always running whether I am here, sleeping or not home. So 3-4 really.

The Brodmann's Area 10 in the front of your brain is active during multitasking. It switches around from one thing to the next, constantly changing, but is terrible at focusing. It tries to make conslusions too quickly, often making mistakes. Actually, if you mulitask too much, the areas more in the posterior region of your brain have a hard time funcitoning, at which point you have no more desire for deep concentration. This is call "mental antsyness".

I think Extraverts are more susceptable to this. Especially ExxPs (but certianly not all Extraverts have this problem).
