    Default Within the family

I'm positive my dad's ISTJ. I made my brother take the test and wala, ISTJ too. I have a hard time seeing my mom as the same type as me but perhaps that's because of her uhm parenting but she may be INFJ like me. A family of introverts we are. A little freaky. I may become very attracted to ISTJs as they seem very reliable and sturdy and then we'll breed ISTJ and INFJ children. Oh goody.

Maybe my mother's ENFJ which makes them duals. Hmmmmmmmm. Super-ego sounds conflicting and they fight but they never really seriously fight. Yeah. Close enough.

Pictures always help a lot, especially for I/E and T/F distinctions.
Well I am back. How's everyone? Don't have as much time now, but glad to see some of the old gang are still here.

My family is five introverts and an extrovert. When we meet we usually spread out in the house right after we've eaten. Two floors and two ends of the house makes four general areas to hide in and the garden is quite big.

    LOL

If you don't mind me asking, does the super-ego description at socionics.com describe the relationship between you and your father?
He's a great dad but we're not that close as in chat every single day. But when issues arise, he's always on my side and convincing my mom to be on my side too. But we could be...because when we work together and he gets frustrated but that's him under stress and he's fine and feels bad about it afterwards. It fits him perfectly and he reminds me of all the other ISTJs so I'm sure he's that type.

    Mom's ISFJ actually. Makes sense.

So much introvert and stresss. Eeew.

heh, my isfj mom appologizes madly if she accidentally brushes you with her arm. she never physically strikes anyone.
My ISFP mother says that she does it because we were bad, but not really, she enjoies exercising poweer and force, makes her feel good about herself.

    Lol kick her back.

    As for my family:

    Dad: ISTj
    Mother: ISFj
    Brother: possibly ESFp
    Me: ENTj

I have noticed that in my mother's family runs a strage patter:

My grandad's brothers are mostly STs
Their sons (my mother and her brothers/cousins/sisters) are mostly SFs
My generation has an incidence of NTs of 66.6 percent, which is an astounding deviation from the mean, at least in North-Eastern Italy.

Hmmmm good question. They get along pretty well. When stressed, my mom calls my dad a "dreamer" (huh that's pretty funny, look at your name! :-) my dad calls my mom "insensitive". That's when they're stressed.

My mom controls the money and does the discipline and sets limits. My dad is the zany nice guy willing to agree to anything (then my mom comes in and gets reality going). My father is really funny and charming and sometimes a little bit attention seeking and egotistical. But he has a very kind soft heart, hates violence, and can be idealistic. My mom is the ultimate realist and knows when the jig is up. She tries to help my dad see this. My dad tries to help my mom soften up a little bit.

They seem to understand what one another needs. My dad understands when my mom needs rest and quiet, my mom understands when my dad needs alone time for study and imagination.

My mom sacrificed her career for my dad's. She's trained as a teacher, but gave this up so my dad could move around and up and try different things as a pastor. There is a lot of give and take in the relationship but I would have to say that my mom gives a little bit more.

They've been married 42 years, so they've got something I didn't get with my marriage that's for sure. What was I thinking marrying my lookalike?

Calm seas 80% of the time; stormy weather 20%. It's not bad at all, really. No worse than most families. Some Fi/Ti tensions when they get riled up, but it's worked out.

Posts I wrote in the past contain less nuance.
If you're in this forum to learn something, be careful. Lots of misplaced toxicity.

~an extraverted consciousness is unable to believe in invisible forces.
~a certain mysterious power that may prove terribly fascinating to the extraverted man, for it touches his unconscious.

bump. This is a good idea for a thread. I recommend you guys update your family typings if they have changed.

    dad: ENTp/INTj
    mom: ISTj
    future stepdad: ESFp
    brother: INTp
    sister: ESFj
    me: INTj

Note the two opposing dual pairs--do I have the most crazily symmetric family or what?

My relationship with my mom is rocky to say the least. Then again the constant bitching annoys everyone else, too. I used to think my dad and I were identicals, but the opposite temperament would explain our conflicts. Occasionally we have good conversations, but our interests are not very similar. His main interest (finance/economics) is also typically ENTp.

My sister and I get along ok. We don't talk most of the time, but it's just relaxing to have her there in the same room. I like having a dual in my immediate family, but aside from her there is no Super-Id support whatsoever. She, OTOH, has 3 Ti types around, and I'm sure it accounts for her rise to power, so to speak, in the social circles.

My brother is the prototypical whiny little Fi/Ni Victim. He has taking quite the liking to future stepdad; he's beginning to discover his Fi/Se side, after living with Alphas for years. As for FSD--who I met post-Socionics--I just try to avoid him. Once we got into this really awful argument, but on a day-to-day basis he's just annoying.

Overall, could be worse, could be better.

It's pretty interesting that my sister an I became mirrors of our mother and my brother became a mirror of our father. Nobody in my family really likes my father, but the rest of us are very close.

Comments: Kill me please! I'm suffocating from my mom's over-care-giving nature and my dad's supervision.

My mom is horrible at understand concepts. But likes me to explain it. But she doesn't understand what I'm explaining. And... I gave up. She misinterprets almost everything I say. My dad however, is able to explain it clearer.

Ahh. And I simply can't please my dad.

My parents split up when I was 6, can't remember how long they were together before I was born. They're still on friendly terms now, but rarely have anything to do with eachother.

Generally my mother and I get on with eachother, although we tend to get on eachother's nerves now and again if we spend too much time together.

For the most part I'm unaffected by the supervision element from my Dad, since I only see him in a local pub most of the time, so it's largely social rather than close interaction. Too much Fe usually gets on my nerves, but I just keep quiet about it rather than showing it. Aside from that, we tend to get on alright.
