Hate to brag, but I already knew this.

Why do I like writing 16types adventures stories so much? Why do I like creating art, music and video game for my friends. I don't get paid for it. (Maybe... one day =p) I really do do it out of pure love.

1. When I write a chapter, I have complete narcissistic control over the work. I don't have to kiss some douchebag asshole's ass just to 'move up in the world.' I can do that myself. (Autonomy/Self-Direction) (Yeah yeah I understand not all bosses/supervisors are the devil it's just the childlike understanding that nobody likes being told what to do.)
2. Mastery. I really do care about getting better as a writer. I enjoy constructive criticism. When I write a good chapter, I expect people to praise me and say 'That was awesome.' When I'm poor and mediocre, I expect other people to say 'wow that sucks.' (Mastery)
3. The stories really do mean something to me. I CARE. I know it's probably silly to a lot of people to get so much meaning just for writing stories, but in essence: That's what the entire Hollywood entertainment industry is founded upon. They just have the tools and resources to make it seem a bit more alive, but the core essence is similar. Even though I enjoy nice, rich things like everybody else, it is obvious that's not what I'm only motivated by. The stories have soul, they have heart. (Purpose)

Also, a 4th thing:

Although I am naturally liberal and left-wing, I have an intuitive understanding of the world and I know that most of the time a good balance of capitalism/socialism principals is the best at producing results. We like to compete and one-up everybody, but when things are just cruel and hateful and out of hand, it causes tyranny and rebellion. It actually hurts productivity when people are not nice and kind to each other. The most high quality, dignified things are a balance between those ideals because mother nature understands that every perception is true. Everybody likes their favorite tv shows or movies & fanbase stuff etc. When the show is aired for free either on regular tv/or the internet, they like it because they feel related to w/o being judged. However, they also will want to buy merchandise on the product because of this reason. You don't get anywhere as a company not being nice to people lmao.

I am a writer too, and I envy the guts and real desire to write that posting your stories here shows. I am a silly bubble boy when it comes to writing, I have to be experiencing something new and crazy to really spark my imagination; otherwise it feels useless. You just summon this stuff up.

I think the most basic conscious motivations that exist in the deep core of our brain is rage and lust(or pain/pleasure as some would define it).

However we have evolved a cortex and cerebral cortex, which allow a level of reflection and refinement of our basic motivations.

I see most of our conscious processes are a reaction, refinement and/or reflection of these basic emotional drives.

Man is not a animal, we cannot feed on raw pain and pleasure alone, we need to cook it a bit for digestion, flavor, perversion .

I can relate to a lot. I rather have a meaningful job than a good paying job. Money doesn't motivate me at all. Helping people does.

Justin I could see you writing historical fiction. You have to have something to hook you though, the actual topic has to interest you. Maybe retell the Paris Commune from the perspective of a ground-level participant or something. That could actually be a really inspiring story.

Lol actually I could totally see you and Ashton collaborating to write WWII fiction from the perspective of front line soldiers and generals, like a Body of Lies meets documentary type thing.
