Well I like almost every character I've played so I'm a bit unhelpful in that regard. Mostly it's a bit personal though, I sort of find a part of me or an emotion I've felt and relate it to the character. To me that's empathy sort of 'assuming that other's feel the same way about things that I do'. Or if the character I am playing is too far removed from myself I just act, play pretend so to speak. FWIW I tend to get sort of type cast. I generally get comedically 'simple' (aka stupid) characters or romantic comedic leads sort of stuff. So I guess when I say 'empathy is my job' I'm more referring to trying to empathize with the character, which hasn't been too difficult for me yet.
However, I do sort of agree with ashton in that IRL it is much harder for me to empathize with people when I'm stressed out. It's much easier for me when I'm happy or not feeling external pressures so to speak.

We're both social creatures who evolved together. It's an interesting dynamic; humans and canines. For instance, the main part of a healthy diet for domestic dogs is a carbohydrate first (wheat, etc.) and then followed by protein (meat), because as we domesticated them, they adapted to our diet and became more dependent on an omnivorous diet. Wild canines don't have this issue and are primarily strict carnivores.
For good dogfood, the first ingredient (the one that there is the most of) should be a carbohydrate; something like barley, rice, or wheat (not corn because it actually has shitty nutritional value for both dogs and humans). The second one should be meat, and it should say straight up like "Chicken" or "beef". A lot of them say "chicken byproduct" or "porn byproduct", which basically means the less nutrtitional excess that serves as filler. They should also have a fair amount of vegetables as well.
This is a fun contrast to cat recommendations as well, which is much more like a wild animal's diet. Very heavy on the protein. Another interesting fact is that some people claim that cats aren't domesticated, but are tamed (there's a difference in that domestication requires us to have made biological change. I think we have in cats and that this theory is BS.) Also interesting, all dogs are a subspecies of the grey wolf, and their scientific name is Canis lupus familiaris, whereas cats are their own species of Felis domesticus. This is an interesting fact because dogs are familiar to us like friends, whereas cats are just domesticated.
(I don't know how I know half the things I do...my anthropology degree at work!)
That's awesome! I just went and looked and our dog food is the kind that tries to make it seem healthy for dogs. In big bold letters on the front it says "REAL CHICKEN IS THE #1 INGREDIENT" but then when you read the ingredients the next 5 are like 'corn meal, corn gluten meal, ground barely, ground whole grain sorghum, and brewers rice.' so yeah a lot of carbohydrates lol.
My dog likes to eat used tissues a lot. If you blow your nose and set it someplace with the intention of throwing it away next time you get up then there's a good chance he's going to take it and eat it. He's always real sneaky about it too because when he catch him we take them away and I assume he doesn't like that.

"Tell someone you love them today, because life is short; shout it at them in German, because life is also terrifying."
Fruit, the fluffy kitty.
Kibbles are the carbs. Bits are the protein.
Was this about SEE and Fi at some point?

its a cartoon! i am offended by people being offended by it.
no kittens were harmed in the making of that picture.
but i mean, are you serious? is it like a thing where you think its appropriate to be upset so you express upset-ness? are you literally, actually, alarmed? why, exactly? i mean these questions honestly.
OMG THERE ARE DEPICTIONS OF SUFFERING IN THIS WORLD @WorkaholicsAnon
You eat animals, don't get upset if someone depicts dead animals. Liking it doesn't make you any more evil, on the contrary, you will get to know the evil within so you will be more likely to notice when it raises it's head.
Too often people think that they are fighting the devil when they are working for the devil.
