Reading biographies about him I've changed my mind and decided that if the choice is between ESI and LSE, LSE is more likely. He was a practical and active man with little time for introspection. I don't think that is necessarily contrary to the ESI mindset, but I now appreciate the case for LSE.
One biography I read remarked (and gave) numerous instances where people acquainted with him spoke highly of him only to later change their opinion to merely that of grudging respect, and that he had few close confidantes. That seemed possibly characteristic of a LSE, but again, that is perhaps a subjective impression.
