The descriptions of him really do not describe him as any way extroverted in the classical sense either.
I was watching a video of Jeff Daniels discussing his portrayal of George Washington in which he stated that GW had a soft speaking voice and people often had a hard time hearing what he was saying. I have no supporting evidence of this, not even a link to the video, so this is total hearsay. But I am feeling a bit lazy and someone else can look it up.
