as you point out yourself there are plenty of facts about oneself that are evaluated without emotional engagement. likewise there are facts about the world that are evaluated emotionally and facts that aren't. in this regard, world and self are on equal footing.

The emotional emphasis is skewed towards the general self concept e.g the core of what you see yourself to be.

accuracy of impressions is conducive to individual survival, so this is a very dubious notion.

I would say behaviour which helps the species survive is more important than individuals having accurate impressions.

it's just completely the other way around. the effect of noise influences on the aggregated averages becomes smaller as the amount of information increases. this is a basic mathematical fact. even if it wasn't like this, you could just ignore the information past a certain point so that your "extra" information doesn't burden you.

Yes, you are also changing (your role changes through out life). I can't experience the feeling of being 70 and having to deal with mortality issues at 27 or experience living on the streets homeless when I've never had to. The noise becomes a issue since you have not experienced every situation (yeah, I know I'm changing my position a bit) but a few situations a lot which gives more interpretive weight to situations you've already experienced.

Not sure about THE most difficult thing, but it certainly is rather difficult to go beyond what is on the surface and penetrate deep into the unconscious motives... perhaps even moreso than it would be to do the same in others.

But trying to relate this to type, and not being sure of one's type, seems rather shallow.

Hmmm...I think this statement has more than one meaning for me, personally: beyond having difficulty apprehending my own personality, its also "difficult" for me to accept myself, its almost kind of mentally painful to know or accept certain things about myself that fall short of my self expectations or differ from the way I like to view myself.
