I have an issue with the Enneagram similar to the one I have with Socionics, which is that none of the types seem to describe me particularly well. I usually score as a type 4, though, on Enneagram tests, and, unlike with the other types, I certainly don't mind being labeled as one.

3rd one was probably 6. I think I’ve always had 4-5-6 as top 3, in that order. As stated, I did get 5 first on a couple though. 3 and 8 are usually the lowest scores. 9 and 1 are usually just about tied for my gut type.

Tests are not reliable. I test 8w7 So all the time. There is no way I'm that, not enough energy for Se. High 5 score probably cus of NT.

Based on those, I'd say seven and eight most resonate with me.

Enneagram Type 7 Core Desire: Being Satisfied / Being ContentTo expand on those two descriptions, 7’s want to be satisfied, content, happy, unrestrained, and free.


Enneagram Type 8 Core Desire: Being Self-Governed / Being Independent
To expand on those two descriptions, 8’s want to be self-governed, independent, and they want to be able to protect themselves (and those they care about)

Seven seems more like me, then again, I figure if I had to choose a single motivation, then maybe I'd choose the eight's because being self-governed but not satisfied (if only temporarily so) is better than being satisfied under someone else's control, or worse, because of someone else's control.

The thing about eight is that I don't try to dominate others or control them, especially not by giving orders. People like that are a pain in the ass lol. Why would I want to be like that? But if we're going to argue against typing oneself based on traits, but rather on motivations (like the site says), then I can see type eight being likely. I've always wanted to avoid being controlled, usually by doing my own thing and ignoring everyone else, rather than by exercising power in a traditional fashion.

I know type 8 SLEs here who would say the same. 8s don't necessarily have a need to control others, its not a core motivation. Imo LIE and SLE are the most likely type 8s. You should explore type 8w7 more.

This subtype is a mass of contradictions. They want to let themselves go, but judge themselves for doing so. The difference between this type and the self-pres/sexual is that the sexual first intensity wins out. They can be highly critical of their spouses, expecting perfection from them. They can be very jealous and protective of their relationships. Their sense of humor can be sarcastic and biting. On the down side, they can be brutal to others while being very sensitive themselves to the slightest criticism. When their standards or ideals aren’t met, you’ll likely know about it. The anger and frustration is more visible in this subtype, and they also tend to be more emotionally demonstrative than the other non-sexual subtypes.

On the high side, the contradictions and struggle usually make for a very interesting person, combining high ideals with passion. Their blind spot can be their inability to see the impact of their intensity in the social realm.

I’m a countertype 8, and a bit more “out there” than regular 8s. Keep in mind, 8 is about power over the physical world, manipulation of the material plane; not control over people. Control/power over people is 2. Control/power over information is 5. 2/5/8 are the power enneagrams, foundational.

I'm still figuring it parts of it out but at this point 4w3 so/sx or sx/so is the best fit. Tritype, 4XX and I have to at least be doubly withdrawn, so there is a 5 or a 9 somewhere in there. If I have 9 then it is the last of all in my tritype.

There aren't "virtues" to any type. The Enneagram represents instinctual blind spots and consistent weaknesses, not strengths, and it's nothing to be proud of or want to identify with. A proper type description should be painful to read, and the mass of pop-psychology Enneagram articles online people seem to read aren't that.

4w5 with alternative 4w3. A few people in community think I am a 6, but they do not at all know me, and a social 4 can often mirror social 6 superficially, but we want individuate and deal with ore depressive and feeling of shame.. I even cringe when I feel my uniqueness is stifled and get angry internally when an idea that I came up with is not original and others have come up with similar idea or concept, and I am horrified of that. I deal with considerable shame issue, and me being autistic and finding out as a little girl, and my father's abuse made me hate who I am and feel innately flawed, yet somehow I also have felt very unique, despite viewing myself as a defect.
