Well at least it's better to look stupid and be smart than to look smart and be stupid
I haven't used this to describe the IEIs I have known but I can see it.

I've never had any one tell me I'm doing a deer in the headlights look (that I can remember), but my one friend told me if she could pick an animal that fits my personality, it would be a deer (like you also described in your OP).
I guess it's because I'm timid at times, and I kind of just stand there? LOL I don't know. People have pointed out to me that I hunch my body naturally when I'm standing/walking, too, so I guess that adds to the "timid" image. I have to concentrate on it to make myself walk with "normal" posture.
It's that wide-eyed shocked expression, like a startled deer. Other types have different looks, like a cocked eyebrow or a quizzical gaze.
Know I'm mistyped?
Why I am now.
Why I was , once.

Fe creatives are deer, though more prominently gazelles.
...I asked this before. On a few occasions I caught them staring at me with this look, I don't like that look...
Could you girls please stop it, you all know how much I love cute animals, and hot, mesmerizing eyes, and timid bunnies and fuck. I've already got Cardinal OK, she's already more than enough for one world full of horny guys and it's just one man here putting a lid on her overcharged libido, so you know I can't satisfy all of you.
Just kidding, come here for free hugs and pets

never specifically "deer in headlights" but I've been told I look sad and happy at the same time (on numerous occasions) and also that I look like I'm "lost in my head" and have had people ask me what I'm thinking as if it were some great mystery. haha "what's going on in there???" Oh I didn't realize I had to be deep all the time. so sorry.

I've felt deer-in-headlights look cross my face a couple of times when strangers have stared me in the eye. Oh yeah & when I see pics of myself caught off guard too.
yeah i'm always spacing out lol. also i often hold long gazes and eye contact when i'm listening to someone. maybe it makes some people uncomfortable?
i was bored and i was looking at piles and piles of old newspapers from the '90s. my friend goes "what are you looking at?", i innocently say, "nothing", he says, "it was so intense though...that look on your face".
WTF? intense? i was just looking at newspapers...
