I was going to suggest this quiz but you beat me to it. My results are pretty close to accurate however Religion and Faith are generally not a big thing in my life. As in it's not important enough for me to commit to any one belief system or even care to do so.

LOL it's funny that I was raised Roman Catholic and it's almost the last one on my list...

That's the way many people feel. Ironically there is a philosophical/religious category for that even I bet.

I believe Unitary Universalism is a pretty close candidate.

i find it reinforcing that the results place conservative christianity near islam.

that is what i was getting at. if there is an inescapable appropriation that is required in the act of understanding, this brings into question the validity of socionics in describing what is real, and hence stubborn contradictions that continue to plague me.

He means that Jehova's witnesses are annoying bastards that go door to door giving people books, because if they do not 'witness' they could be disfellowshipped from their congregation and going door to door is how they keep from being disfellowshipped.

And yeah, it is a complement because Jehova's witnesses typically are not liked very much by people in the United States.

P.s. Jadae was acutally telling a joke, Jehova's witnesses only randomly get drenched with hoses, but usually only because large hoses are not always available to the general public. Squirt bottles or pepper spray work just as well sometimes.

Man, I am like the complete opposite of everyone, except for maybe Diana. Unitarian Universalism seems to be one everyone here is scoring high in, though.

This was the best test I've done in a while. They actually had answers that described how I see things. And I learned new things while I read the other answers. ("wow! That's such a cool hypothesis. This seems really plausible! I should think about it!")

Yes, Minde!! I'm about 99% convinced of the resurrection, too. Actually someone here helped convince me - they had a great CS Lewis quote as their signature - can't think who it was.

CS Lewis is amazing. And he's so quotable! Have you read any of his books?

I read The Chronicles of Narnia when I was a kid and am reading them now to my 8 year old. I tried the Perelandra series but it didn't do much for me. I haven't read any of his adult books, but I'd like to try as soon as I'm done with my current series.

Yes CS Lewis is very quotable! Have you read much of his stuff?

I read The Chronicles of Narnia when I was a kid, too. I read his sci-fi trilogy and it was... interesting... It seemed in those books that he was allegorically exploring his own thoughts, as opposed to explaining what he actually believed, like he does in most of his other books. I've also read most of Mere Christianity and The Screwtape Letters, as well as excerpts from some of his other works.

One of my favorite quotes of his, one that comes to me when doubts press on me, is what Puddleglum says to the Witch in the Silver Chair. She's just drugged him and the two children and is trying to convince them that her underground realm is all that exists, that all they know about the world above is a dream, a childish fantasy.

After painfully snapping himself out of his drug-induced lethargy, he says to her, "All you've been saying is quite right, I shouldn't wonder. I'm a chap who always liked to know the worst and then put the best face I can on it. So I won't deny any of what you said. But there's one thing more to be said, even so. Suppose we have only dreamed, or made up, all those things - trees and grass and sun and moon and stars and Aslan himself. Suppose we have. Then all I can say is that, in that case, the made-up things seem a good deal more important than the real ones. Suppose this black pit of a kingdom of yours is the only world. Well, it strikes me as a pretty poor one. And that's a funny thing, when you come to think of it. We're just babies making up a game, if you're right. But four babies playing a game can make a play-world which licks your real world hollow. That's why I'm going to stand by the play-world. I'm on Aslan's side even if there isn't any Aslan to lead it. I'm going to live as like a Narnian as I can even if there isn't any Narnia."

Biblical christianity may be a delusion. But if it is, then it's more beautiful and fulfilling and makes more sense to me than any other idea I have yet to come accross.

Minde you are right about that quote from The Silver Chair; that's one of the most inspiring quotes from his collection! And in the context of the story, in the middle of that enchantment she is trying to get over on them . . . it sends chills up your spine.

This is the quote that got me thinking:

"Five senses; an incurably abstract intellect; a haphazardly selective memory; a set of preconceptions and assumptions so numerous that I can never examine more than minority of them - never become conscious of them all. How much of total reality can such an apparatus let through?"

How prodigious can our minds actually be, I think he is saying. There are limits to our perceptions and logic . . . why can't Christ have been resurrected?

True Christian faith and belief have been inside all along, like a seed waiting to sprout. Thank God I've been able to listen with my ears!

Blaze, what did they say to you? I also believe that Jesus was a real person, and have some personal things that happened in my life to prove it. Though, I am not sure if sharing would convert anyone, lol.

If we try to disregard most of the content of each religion and focus instead on their "mentality" or "type", we would notice that, for example, Taoism is very P-ish and reflects much of an INTp's mentality or life rhythm. Maybe some other P types also feel that, but I think that those who are dominant probably feel the strongest "connection" to Taoism. My hypothesis is that, for example, not many ENTjs would find Taoism attractive.

i also answered a lot of questions. i am, as i would describe myself, a devout atheist. basically i answered "not applicable" or "this is irrelevant because there is no god" to every question.

unitarian universalism seems to be kind of a catch-all, and besides that secular humanism and non-theism make perfect sense. the others where i scored higher than 0 also shared some opinion with me that "this question doesn't make sense because god is not a person, rather god is the supreme force" or something of the sort.

all in all, if you asked me to rank the religions as to how i believe i fit in them, you would have atheism at 100% and quite a lot at 5-10%.

Probably about the same for me. I'm also a devout atheist, but I have some kind of preference for Taoism among those 5-10 % religions.

Taoism is a belief and not a religion in the strict sense. That is probably why it has never bothered me.

A non-theist is probably the same thing as being an existentialist, because it is totally possible to be a non-theist and believe in the possibility of something that might be a God, taking that you do not believe that it is anything that is a God and like a human or disregard the mythological beliefs behind there being a God, yet do not discount the possibility.

Existentialism = atheism, agnosticism, some forms of theism.

Sometimes you may even see the three be called Christian Existentialism, Atheistic Existentialism, and Nihilistic Existentialism.

edit: note that this post is @phaedrus.

actually i sort of agree with you there. taoism at 20% might be about accurate.

what i identify with in taoism is the idea that all nature is what it is and humans should accept it. the criterion i apply to all religions (or rather, to people {usually christians} trying to get me to accept their religious beliefs) is that of showing me something about the way that the world is structured that is better explained by the religion than by any other system, usually science. taoism is the only religion i have encountered that accomplishes such a feat: when posed with the age-old question "why are we here?" the scientist will respond that he does not know. the taoist will say something to the extent of "who cares why you are here? the point is that you are here." admittedly, this is a better explanation than "i don't know."

what i really don't like with taoism is the complete rejection of the scientific method, or indeed any explanation at all. i can still see the ideal that all humanity should go about what comes naturally because it is reasonable that we do what is natural; but where an explanation suffices, it seems to me that it should be used.

the other problem i have with taoism is the idea of spiritual force, the tao, yin and yang, etc. i dislike those ideas for the same reason that i dislike other religions; namely that they provide no insight to anything and make no sense.

that's a trend you'd be likely to find in this list, starting at 20% and going down you're likely to have something to the extent of

    taoism
    buddhism
    hinduism
    ...
    assorted forms of paganism
    ...
    abrahamic faiths.

Why would your teacher think you are weird?

BTW I am also an existential agnostic, which is probably why I am scored so high in Non-theism.

    "huh???? Confused Confused Confused Confused

how is taoism not a religion?"

In the strict sense, he said.
"To become is just like falling asleep. You never know exactly when it happens, the transition, the magic, and you think, if you could only recall that exact moment of crossing the line then you would understand everything; you would see it all"

"Angels dancing on the head of a pin dissolve into nothingness at the bedside of a dying child."
