    Default Pete Doherty

    Hi,

This is my first post, so hello everyone.
I'll write later some words about me... (even if "later" might aleady be a clue :sherlock: )

Could you please try to type Pete Doherty?
He's an artist, former singer/frontmen/guitarist/songwriter in "The Libertines" and now singer/frontmen of the "Babyshambles"...

    Here's an article about himhttp://www.guardian.co.uk/arts/features/story/0,11710,1424893,00.html

    and here are some Photos:

    http://libertines.twinkling-star.com...rparkpics.html

    http://libertines.twinkling-star.com/newsnightcaps.htm

    http://libertines.twinkling-star.com/picturesindex.html

    and some quoteable stuff:

Pete (2004) - "I have a very bad relationship with the future. We don't get on. We just ignore each other."

Pete - "There are three things that I know a bit about in my life and that's QPR, my guitar and drugs. I know QPR are the best football team in the world, my guitar is the most beautiful thing I own and that I don't take enough drugs to kill me. It isnt drugs that I need to get rid of; it's the demons that fill my head. Once I have come to terms with my demons, maybe I'll be able to get clean."

Pete, March 2004 - "I sometimes get a feeling when I play with The Libertines that we are playing beautiful songs that feel just perfect, and then I feel like I have got it. Success is when, despite all the hurdles, we can make something beautiful together."

Pete, March 2004 - "The happiest experience we have ever had is being together as the boys in the band, reaching the listeners' hearts and waking up Cupid too."

Pete on socialism - "I do have utopian fantasies. A lot of them are more - I wouldn't say spiritual, but they relate more to the imagination and the individual. But for me socialism is a way of trying to put far-fetched ideas into everyday use, trying to find a way to bridge the gap between that fantasy and reality, and reaching out across that gap to the people who can actually do something to make the change."

Pete - "I'm not one of these people who doesn't care what people think, otherwise I'd stay in and play for the bedroom wall, but you can't force people to like your music."

Pete on his personal goals (2002) - "Mental-stability, I would say. I'd like to achieve a fluidity, where everything stays consistent – always doing shows, always with the chance to release records, meeting new people... I want people to embrace us in the way I've been inspired by so many artists... Like the Stooges, the 'Pistols, a lot of R&B, soul, ska/mod stuff... That was what I liked about Carl originally – the fact he didn't know about people like The Smiths and The Stone Roses... A kind of naivety... Apart from that, we'll be writing new songs along the way."

James Mullord on Pete - "I've never met anybody as charming or charismatic as Peter. He's a very talented poet and a really lovely man. Give him a phrase or topic and he can produce a great song in five minutes. I'm in total awe of him when he's creating."

James Mullord on Pete - "Pete is unmanageable. That's what Alan McGee found. As someone who had coped with Primal Scream and the Gallagher brothers, what problems could he have with little Pete Doherty and his doe eyes? Alan couldn't get Peter to turn up to shows. You cannot coerce him into doing anything he doesn't want to do. He is totally a free spirit."

Pete (Clash magazine, December 2004) - "If I wasn't doing music, it wouldn't be me, would it? I've always been into music. But maybe I would've concentrated more on writing, as in creative writing. I'd just immerse myself in my imagination. But like, starting to learn the guitar, getting together with Carl, writing songs, getting out there, getting Babyshambles together, I've been given the opportunity by life; the chance by fate, the kind lady. She showed me a bit of leg, didn't she? She's allowed me to, rather than sit in - which I'm not knocking - rather than sit in and reside in my imagination I can actually live out any of those things I dare [blocked due to guideline #4 violation]ing dream or fantasize about. I can live them out."

Pete on growing up (Clash magazine, December 2004) - "There's always been a real sense of Englishness and probably nationalism. From an early age I had a fascination with the language and accents. I was a fanatical QPR fan as well, even though it was quite difficult seeing them play! (Laughs) But by the time I'd got back to England I was off with my little scarf everwhere following them. That was my passion. I think, in a way, I wanted to get back to what my mum and dad had been trying to escape from, you know what I mean? They wanted to get out of inner cities and I just had this fantasy of like inner city bohemia. So as soon as I could, I was like a greyhound out a trap as soon as I left home."

Pete on life (2003) - "Just when you get really wound up, you turn a corner and you're somewhere else completely. You find an Arcadian glade - a glimpse of paradise in the middle of it all. And that's why you persevere. That's why you don't chuck yourself off a building or shoot yourself at the same time as someone else, like he [Carl] wanted us to."

Pete on being described as an "icon" (Sept 2004) - "Well, it's just about bein' yourself... even when you’re on the dole, it's about your leather jacket. Music is the last refuge of the working class, along with football... in fact, gigs and riots are the only things left that bring about that sense of spirit and community where you can let yourself go."

I'll write my opinion about him later to get clean answers...
    so what do you think???

    Thank you!

My general impression is INFp. His photos remind me of jazz pianist Jamie Cullum.

I haven't listened to that one yet but I like his rendition of Everlasting Love. Nice stuff...

I am unfamiliar with it... but I just googled it for the lyrics and yeah, wow, beautiful... I have to get that song.
(edit: I 'm curios if Cullum wrote it...)

He looks exactly like one guy I knew a very long time ago. Friendly and tactful (so tactful that he seemed shy, but he had a lot of friends). I couldn't type him myself, but INFp would make sense when typing him in retrospect.

Cullum and Doherty look like an ISFp friend of mine. Plus Cullum's music sounds S to me, earthy and sensual. On a weird tangent also has the softness in the eyes of another ISFp, Richard Wagner:

It's not a beard. It's a tie-down for his hair lol. I think Trump may need one of those...

    Thanks for the response...
I have read so much about this guy and listend to his music that I have no doubts that Pete is an INFP. The similarities of the impression of Doherty and Cullum is quiet shocking
I dont know that much about socionics, but a bit about MBTI, so I would say:
    - moderate I
Clues are his guitar playing, his lyrics and his appearance. Prefers small gigs in pups or his living room instead of the big ones. But he shows so much of his soul to the puplic that he can't be a strong I.
    - very strong F
No rational doing at all...He left his band "The Libertines" at the peek of its success,as he prefered to smoke crack ...He kicked in the door of his bandmate to steal books, awards und guitars, when he felt betrayed by him. Lyrics and appearance are further clues. One song of him is called "In love with a feeling"
    - moderate N
    ...
    - very strong P
Everything around him seems p...songs, life, flat, hair

Dont take my words to serious, they are not objective at all, as I am an INFP myself.

    i'm interested in his type.
based on the most superficial, surface reasons (i don't know much of him) my vague guess would be ...

IEI (... subtype?) sp/so 4w5 ... ? does that even make sense in the slightest ... ? enlighten me

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE
