Default ISFj jobs/careers/occupations: what do ESIs do for a living?

    ...ESIs...what do they do?

    esp E6s.

--So I'm horrible at staying on a career path, everything is so unfulfilling and boring, I've changed mine atleast four times already.
What's something that you know of ESIs sticking with?

    ..please don't say nursing.

    My ESI mom has done...

    secondary education (math)
    teaching piano
    substitute teacher

Aside from that, she was mostly focused on her role as a mother. And she also volunteered a lot with the PTA/PTSA when my siblings and I were in school.

my ESI sister has been a blackjack dealer for years and loves it. i have absolutely no idea how this would be type related, but there you go lol.

i think you might be better off using that holland test or something because it would be more personalized to you..i think going by types is probably a bit broad, or something.

    I know two ESI E6's

One wanted to be a travel agent, the other wants to be a preacher.

Maybe run some kind of business that sells art or something more practical? Teaching is always a good one.

I have worked under a E-6 ESI boss from more than 4 years now. Honestly Anxiety is a huge problem for him. I would say stay away from jobs where it's a Dog eat Dog environment where people try to take advantage of each others and everyone's watching everyone's single move. try to avoid jobs in the corporate setting, retail, bad customer ethics or and find work with minimal anxiety.

I think stacking does influence this.

If you are an Sx type you might want to go out to search and wander, hes probably Sx last and Sp in the first and sec stack. so he values calm and stable living more so than the former.

And if you say your boredom is a big problem at work. I don't know if you are seeking any sort of calmness and in favor to some more exciting ventures.

Unfortunately there are only a select number of people who will pay us to do that so the rest of us have to find other jobs.

There's definitely something to a relaxed job though. I don't like stressful jobs where I have to rush around.

Dunno, my girlfriend likes to work for state companies and similar stuff because the hours are steady and the job is secure.

However she complains that due to this security most people slack off while she wants to get things done.

However around here if you want a place where you can get a lot of things done then the environment will likely be cut-troath.

ESIs (and SEEs) can deal with difficult clients. They make good hotel managers, bank employees and such.

I wonder if ESIs would make good teachers? They can be kind of nurturning and are good with kids but able to keep control. My daughter's 1st grade teacher was ESI.

That might've been true at one time, but isn't anymore. The average public school teacher's salary is about $53,000—plus generous benefits packages (link). Not bad for only working 9 months out of the year.

I think this is a more accurate representation. It's a breakdown of teacher salaries by state and distinguishes between starting and average salary. Teachers do not make $53,000 on average, especially not when starting out.

I assume those include private school teacher salaries, which are ~$13,000 less on avg.

Well I should say teachers in my state make crap, my cousin has been a highschool teacher for three years and works 7am until 6pm 5 days a week, takes papers home to grade weekly, prepares for tests, tutors kids one on one, and assistant coaches the track team, he's exhausted and wants another career.

Yeah teaching is rough, the ones who aren't really in it for the kids wind up old, miserly assholes with no patience or soul
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

ESI should be in professions that require concrete things not theoretical; they make excellent physician, any field in medicine where they may have contact with other individuals; computer related professions, such as computer design, graphics, programing.
    -
    Dual type (as per tcaudilllg)
    Enneagram 5 (wings either 4 or 6)?

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE

Sorry, you believe that computer programming does not require a strong theoretical background?

Anyway, I'm not sure if you're right or not. During my master's degree, I've met 3 ESI professors, all of them specialized in a rather theoretical field. Yes, they were skeptical of new ideas and more interested in the pratical side of such theories, but when you're at a certain level you don't really find anything truly "practical".

That's not what I mean about theory; what I mean is something concrete as opposed to abstract; I wouldn't do well in those professions because of how trivial my thoughts take their course; they go into the depths of few things rather than an understanding of those things and how they can be applied externally. I bring things in and they engage themselves with objects; I engage myself with other people's feelings, not inanimate things, and constantly develop and redevelop ideas as it relates to other human beings. My thoughts aren't practical they are emotional and empathetic.

They make abstractions (from Ti) related to concrete objects; I make abstractions related to things/ideas beyond concrete objects.

o.o hmm I'm good with computers...always have been also a pro at foreign languages. Sticking with that....but I also find repetitive and detailed work..tedious and boring....leads to me procrastinating like there is no tomorrow. Always wanted to get into alternative energy.
