Ah, Wallace Stevens. Good stuff. I understand you're an English major? I just managed to graduate with my B.A. In English without reading a single novel. I'm pretty proud of myself.
lol. That's impressive. Props to you. I'm in my first novel class right now. It's not bad. But yeah, poetry is much more my thing. I love the Rilke quote in your sig. (Obviously, it reminded me of that bit of Stevens). But yeah, english major. Absolutely no practical plans atm, but whatever. Four years reading books sounds fine to me.

Not a rule, just a trend.

IEI. Probably Fe subtype. Pretty sure I'm E4, sexual instinctual type, fairly confident that I'm a 3 wing now, so: IEI-Fe E4w3 sx/so. Considering 3w4 now, but pretty sure that 4 fits the best.

    Yes 'a ma'am that's pretty music...

I am grateful for the mystery of the soul, because without it, there could be no contemplation, except of the mysteries of divinity, which are far more dangerous to get wrong.

Voila! They already think I'm Delta, so I have nothing to lose.

Yeah, you can't really do very much with just an English B.A. I'm resigned to going back to school for something more practical, but I don't regret it. Rilke wrote some of the most beautiful poetry ever. It's a shame most people only know him for his pretentious letter to that young poet.
"How could we forget those ancient myths that stand at the beginning of all races, the myths about dragons that at the last moment are transformed into princesses? Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us act, just once, with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest essence, something helpless that wants our love."

Wow, weird. I totally said hi to you in my last post redbaron. I think I must have cut it out accidentally when I was pasting in silverchris' quoted text. Anyways, hi rebaron! Yeah, it does kind of suck not being able to do anything with your degree. I'm taking a year off to scope out the working world and then applying to a post-baccalaureate program in medicine somewhere.

Pretty! You look very elegant. Also I like the way the picture is framed/angled.

Wow, nice! I love people who have those kinds of hands-on skills and can make things! Is your loom one of those big ones or the little hand-held kind?

I have a big one and a little one. My big one can weave fabric as wide as 48 inches. The little one is 13 inches wide. (I did the scarf on the little one)

The big ones are fun to see in use. It's like all those images of textile-making from the days long gone.

LOL thank you to @aisa for linking me to this thread. What a blast from the past.

OMG... I was such a freaking newb here so embarrassing, so embarrassing...

this was, however, THE landmark thread that(along with simultaneously receiving maritsa's SEE typing) resulted in me retyping to IEE. Maybe it should have been SEI, as Starfall and others here had suggested. At the time, I was too "offended" by what seemed to be exclusionary behavior, and perhaps led on by the bad stereotypes out there about SEIs, and perhaps oblivious to many aspects of socionics, and perhaps still reeling from the Te-laden hell that was medical residency (literally 1-2 months out) to appreciate myself as that type, or as any sort of relaxed person.

So, I'd like to apologize to the participants of this thread, who were trying their best to steer me in the right direction, and received nothing but my immature bitchiness. You guys were actually pretty merciful with me

So it was like you just kinda wanted to fit in with the career world and it seemed like you kinda had to be an abusive annoying TE valuer to fit in with American society but u just kinda weren't like that and didn't want people to look down on you or anything for being a SEI caring housewife type? even tho u naturally do it so well?

Bnd you're right in a way, except idk that i can say i do "housewife" well...I do enjoy homey stuff a lot, but i often get busy with work, and then when i'm home i just want to vegetate. interestingly, there have been more than a few times during the process i did wish i could just be a housewife...but of course that would mean shackling myself to a man who might become abusive, without a means of escape. I also dont want men seeing me as a "housewife", even if i could potentially entertain the thought of being one. I do enjoy my job a lot, and wouldn't want to give it up if i didn't have to. The aspect of my job that i love most is the helping people part; I do it well, and the people do appreciate it a lot, so I dont think i would even want give that up really -- the hardest part is kind of over anyway (maybe?). Of course if i do get married and have kids, i'd reassess and readjust. Right now i'm single, so who else would i be taking care of, except my patients (and well, my mom who is getting older)? My commitment to my patients (and students if i have any) are really what drives me in my job currently. Right now I dont have any, and it sucks...i need forum to get me through the day...

Regarding societal Te-expectations though, yes, i think that has affected me a lot, especially that my field often emphasizes Te-based values, and rewards those who excel with that kind of stuff. I've been able to accept not being considered "the best," keeping my ultimate mission in pursuing my field (helping people) in mind, and i'm notorious among everyone i trained with (faculty and co-trainees) for kind of rejecting Te-based pressure when i can (and in some ways have gotten respected more for it). It helps a lot when my "bosses" aren't Te-valuers either.

I think it's a huge fallacy to think that Te-POLRs (and specifically SEIs) can't take on a career, even in medicine. Actually Filatova's description, specifically says SEIs do well in medicine. MEDICINE. it didn't say nursing. it said MEDICINE. Of course, Filatova is from the former USSR where even women have been seen as capable of a medical career since at least WW2 . Yes, smart and motivated SEIs do exist, and do not have to relegate themselves to being housewives/househusbands. Te=/=intelligence, nor vice versa. Te=/=being able to do well in school, nor vice versa. Beskova specifically writes in her description, SEIs can be very diligent students. A diligent student, who is also at least semi-intelligent, can do anything they set their mind to.

That's why i think it's blasphemy to associate sociotype with career choice. Do what you love, people!!! Dont let socionics determine that for you!!

lol sure william, you can have one too... however, I'm forever grateful for the ILE typing because that is ultimately what did steer me in the right direction...even though the giver of that typing continues to disagree vehemently with SEI for me, but that is ok... I'm so flattered anyone would see me as an ILE

But yes, you were right as well, william.

yeah sure, i still go between the two types (SEI and ESE), but ultimately felt that Te was so obviously a neurosis for me, whereas Ni... not sure...I guess it could be as well, idk, not so obvious in any case. Also, despite my online appearance, I am a fairly quiet person, so the "loud" stereotype of ESEs doesn't quite fit, but then again, some stereotypes around here are o_O.

and you have your answer to the second part.

“My typology is . . . not in any sense to stick labels on people at first sight. It is not a physiognomy and not an anthropological system, but a critical psychology dealing with the organization and delimitation of psychic processes that can be shown to be typical.” —C.G. Jung
